Following on from this years One Wild Camp a Month Challenge, where 8 of us are still going strong.

With only 3 months left of this year its time to start thinking about 2019

Here's the thread
Wild Camp A Month 2018 Challenge

And the guild lines (not rules) are as follows.

Head out for a wild camp at least once per calendar month.
A camp out on the 31st of the month into the 1st of the next month, is just 1 night and it's only counted as the previous months wild camp.

Pub car parks are allowed, but not if you have to pay for them, no problems buying their food and drink but if you pay for car parking of any sort that doesn't count.
Wild and remote areas are great but it you only have time for a quick one mid week between work days then these count just as much.

In 2019 we are going to include Aires style of stops that are popping up (not campsites), these have no facilities other than a tap and possibly somewhere to empty your toilet so you still need to rely on you own facilities so effectively is still a wildcamp but you may have to pay to stop there, like Southport, or at Skipton where they have allotted motorhome only bays on the carpark with overnight usage.

You shouldn't use the same spot as your "challenge" site in the same year, but if it get's you out don't stress about this one 12 times in the same spot is better than not getting out so shout about it.

Multiple nights out in the same month cannot be carried over to the next month or use to fill missed months.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So who fancies signing up to start on Jan 1st 2019 for the following 12 months?

Count me in

Sounds like the sort of thing that I do almost most weekends anyway.
Count me in and let's see where it goes.
If anybody wants to join me in the Carlisle area well it'll be good
Regards
Mike

We are up for it again in 2019, it has certainly got us out this year; also looking forward to seeing more of John's excellent photos.

2019 - We're in

We will have a lot more time for this next year so really looking forward to it

Good news, thanks for joining up.
Don't forget that you have until January 31st to sign up.

Several tips.
1) Favourite this post so that you can easily find it to report in.

2) Get your challenge done earlier in the month, as family and weather can all play their part in not letting you get out late on in the month.

3) Enjoy it not endure it, the challenge is only as good as your mindset doing it.

4) Take a photo ready to post up with your count down of your campervan/motorhome at your destination for the night, but NEVER feel pressured into telling anyone who asks "Where's that?" even if they do say "please"

5) Try and use a different spot each month but don't stress if you end up in the same place.

Count us in, We've enjoyed this and it has got us out a couple of times when I would have normally said "bugger it".

I propose a change to the rules, 2018's challenge was to wildcamp, which was anywhere that you did not pay. This year can we include Aires style of stops that are popping up, they have no facilities other than a tap and possibly somewhere to empty your toilet so you still need to rely on you own facilities so effectively is still a wildcamp but you may have to pay to stop there, like Southport (although I do think 10 quid is too steep) or Skipton where they have alloted motorhome only bays on the carpark with overnight usage.

This is to promote and celebrate the councils/individuals that have the foresight to accommodate us and pave the way for a french style aires system in this country.

I’m in again. I have enjoyed seeing everyone’s photos. We are out and about now looking at that beautiful full moon we have tonight.

Yep, rules are there to be changed.
I'll edit the first post to not this.
TBH if you want to use them this year I won't shout or ban you, I just didn't think about them

Beautiful and cold! Dropped to 11* in the van brrr. I did wake up last night thinking it was morning as it was so light outside then realised it was moonlight and crawled back to bed.

Count me in, I'll be newly retired so will have plenty time to do it next year

I thought I had already said yes to this but must have been a different thread, anyway yes put me down please :)
