I,m posting live ,on location from the north yorkshire moors just outside Goathland (The set for Heartbeat), tried 2 spots but don't feel comfortable so I'm moving on to Grosmont to find a nice secluded car park.
Can't believe the amount of traffic in such a remote area.

10.45pm and still hav'nt cracked open the wine.

Found a roadside viewpoint last night and stayed there on the country road just outside of Sleights, north yorkshire moors, 7 vans already settled there, no problems and a quiet night.
Tonight I'm staying in a farmers field entrance opposite a nice country pub, with his permission of course, So far, the weathers good the countryside is gorgeous and with just me and jack ,the silence is deafening, pics to follow when we return.

Well:rolleyes:It's definitely bigger than an earth worm:cool::p

SLOW WORM, Physical description
Slow worms have smooth and shiny snake-like bodies with an indistinct head, and can be distinguished from snakes by the presence of eyelids. Males vary in colour from grey, to light brown or bronze  with a pale belly. Females are typically browner ;) than the males, and have darker brown flanks, a dark belly and a black stripe running along the back. Both sexes, but more commonly males, will sometimes have blue spots on the body. This blue colouration is more common in coastal or island populations, and may vary over the year. It does not usually occur until an animal is at least three years old. :D :D :D JIM

You really do know everything;) Jim,although Weez beat you to it:p.
So are you saying this Slow Worm does'nt have giant fangs with poisonous venom:eek: and it wont swallow a whole dog in one:confused: or even wrap itself around you and crush the life out of you:eek::rolleyes::confused:???

Highly unlikely to - it is actually a legless lizard :D

We encountered one of these when caravaning way up top of Scotland (can't mind what name of place but beautiful lochside site with hills rising right behind - downside was of course the midgies:eek:) It was when the kids were really kids which is an excuse for the memory lapse.

Well, had a great weekend,(me and Jack),walking, chilling, sightseeing and generally relaxing in the heart of North Yorkshire National park, the weather was nice and landscape was awesome in places, I decided to spend the 3 nights in and around the village of Grosmont (a must see place if you're in the area)with It,s railway station and working steam trains, regularly running between Whitby and Pickering.

I found this lot parked up for the night ,late on Friday evening ,so decided, this place is as good as any and joined them:cool:
Second night found a nice pub and arranged with the farmer next door to pitch on his gateway.

Hi Lenny & Jack,

I am glad that you enjoyed your visit to ‘our back yard’, you can see our house from Bluebank, but we were not there as we had gone across to the Cleveland hills.

The moors and Whitby is becoming very very popular with MH’s. You mentioned on your first nigh that you did not feel comfortable with the first couple of places that you looked at, where were these?

Dave

The uncomfortable spots were.. The hole of holcrum car park and the carpark on the first turn off to Goathland (visible from the main road).
