My electric step got quite stuff and slow when used over the last few outings, it refused to go in and out without helping it the other day so faced with the prospect of buying a new motor I decided to strip the step off and see if I could repair it. Turns out that the the little gear that sits in the centre on the drive shaft is aluminium and the shaft is steel so a little bit of electrolytic corrosion was enough to cause the gear to nearly seize on the shaft..a clean up and some lube then rebuild and it's now better than its ever been, it's going in and out like a champion.
Hope this helps someone out.

WD 40 do a silicone spray. Google for suppliers.
Cures any similar problems, though mine is not as active as it used to be.

Works well on WC cassette slides.

If you strip it down, (keep it clean lads) you might as well check the brushes and clean the commutator at the same time.

I have an Omni step showing similar symptoms, anything to watch out for when removing the step assembly?

The power cable is a bit short and doesn't have a plug I had to cut the cables (x4) and fit a waterproof plug,
The jobs relatively easy mate, twist the motor as you pull it out and you'll have no problems after that
