The old old question which Sat Nav to choose

I want a new Sat Nav
I want one with everything on including Europe
Low bridge alert and alternative route like wagons ????

I am not understanding the download aspect of it so that is why I am looking for one with everything already on it
any ideas
don't get to technical

I have looked for SD card for my Navman F20 but they only do western and eastern Europe
I do have a connectivity kit (disk and wire) but not been able to use it.
But i am now on a Apple laptop

Anyone help

Hi Polly,
If you contact the Road Haulage Association they do one that they say has all the low bridges on it which they sell to the HGV drivers.

Hope they've updated their generosity "together with free map and transport data updates throughout 2009"!

I have TomTom on my PDA and a one off subscription to BridgeX LowBridges.com - low bridge, truck stop and weight/width data for UK truckers' GPS systems which entitles me to free updates. It's compatible with TomTom, Navman & Garmin for anyone who has one of those systems.
It doesn't automatically avoid low bridges but warns you if you are near one so that you can take avoiding action if required. TomTom will then re-calculate the route, I expect other systems do the same.

This is the one I use for my Truck, and I go into central London:( with loads of low bridges and it has never let me down but the best sat Nav for low bridges (And it will NEVER let you down) is you own eyes!!

But if money is no object then the snooper is top draw you even get a TV built in with it!!!

Practical Motorhome

The May issue of Practical Motorhome has reviews of 'van-friendly sat navs.
If they have a website perhaps they're on that too.

Fiftysomething

i have the snooper truckmate,it cost about 700 quid,so far it has not let me down,it has given me advanced warning on low bridges.

It really is VERY personal, when they first came out TOMTOM was the best, but now I have a Garmin Nuvi 600 as I wanted a larger screen, ebuyer and others have them from £59 or £89 with EU.

Mine has the Traffic master built in which I find to be a waste of time, by the time you get to the hold up, or re-routed around it; the hold up had gone! They also now come with a load of 'extras' that you don't need or use e.g. why would you take the memory card out of the camera and view the pic's on your sat nav??? (EVERY digital camera now has a screen) and why would you want to play mp3's through a 1" speaker in mono??? etc etc!
