Are the any members of the 'camping' clubs and use their small restricted sites? How do you find them, on cost, location, facilities, etc

regards

When you sign up to C&CC you get a massive info pack with all locations & facilities and their website also has same info.

Hi cert/sites & cert /loc's are the only reason I joined both clubs c/cc & c/c only use these as very reasonably price and they have all you really need for quite pleasant nights stay or longer if v good. Obivously not as good as free wild spots, but for the more nervousones about like my wife, it helps keep the peace in our m/h. Cost of each club is about £35 not cheap but good monthly mags and good sites book with nessecary directions. Terry (Piglets Pilot)

Agree with Piglets - joined the Caravan Club only for the small CLs, of which there are loads. They are my fall back if I can't find a comfortable wild spot and when I need water/waste.

Used to use them a lot in a caravan...some are getting a bit expensive, I feel, as they aspire to be campsites, but it is still possible to find them for £5. Not all will have hardstanding, though.

We're in the C&CC. Loads of very cheap small sites, Huge book issued every year + updates in the monthly mag. Very Handy sometimes with the kids if we want to get all the bikes etc out for the day. Also useful for the International Camping Card.

Stayed at one recently near Worcester. £10 per night, at the higher end price wise but did have electrics, and toilet/shower (shower not up to much though). Excellent spot for visiting worcester, cycled in traffic free along the river, pub almost adjacent, shops on newish estate a few minutes walk away.
Rang to book and were told the owner would come and collect payment in the evening, we eventually saw him on day 3, so much more relaxed than on club sites.
Another we've used a few times was at Levens , cumbria, £4 a night but no facilities other than water tap, bin and CDP.
The only downsides are that it can be difficult to contact owners and as they only take 5 units may be full if you just turn up, but otherwise they offer excellent value.

makes this site look cheap at £15 :cool1:

Stayed in CC CL a few nights ago, £2 per night! Horses for company in adjacent field! Worth £2 for safety and tranquillity! Not many this price now. Agree that many are becoming really expensive now, we just can't pay it now we are retired.

Don't forget that both clubs have Temporary Holiday Sites. These are basic but quite cheap. I am currently sitting in Corbridge on a lovely THS with the C&CC at £6 per night. Close to pubs and shops, great walks for the dogs (plenty of rabbits) in the lovely Tyne Valley.

We had a few nights on one at Arnside and at Hexham Racecourse recently.

There are also weekend meets which are similar. All in all, the choice is big, whichever club you join. The C&CC does seem to be slightly more relaxed than the CC in my estimation.

We've used the C&CC CL sites often, obviously they vary, but most are excellent, stayed next to Lamas and Ostriches miles from anywhere. Brilliant

hi we use cl sites in cc.they are great to use after afew days wilding to fill up tanks and empty loo and also if u cant find somewhere u feel safe

I think they are brilliant. I always look for out of the way rural CL sites. Last September we toured Devon and Cornwall for a month and most of the CL sites were between £4 and £6. Most of them were superb, quiet with great views.

Im off to one at Flamborough on the East Yorkshire Coast next week for a week or so at £6 a night. Cant go wrong at that price.
