Oh those halcyon days ????

Seem to remember those CL/Sprite LandLiners seen at the end of the video were proper luxury. Well they seemed to be at the time.

"Excellent manoeuvrability and steering lock" :ROFLMAO::LOL::ROFLMAO:

Well, I suppose for it's day and being the shape of a container!

The steering lock on those old Tranny's was a lot better than modern FWD vans, however I don't look back with rose tinted glasses, much rather have a new van. We had the same water pump on our first van, which I took out an old caravan, certainly made you frugal with water use.
As for CI, or at least it's founder, we used to go to a annual auction at Sam Alper's gaff at Chilford Hall, he had a collection of showman's vans, one year gf got chatting to an old man and he showed us in one of the vans, had no idea who he was until years later.

Had one very similar back in 83, CI Travelhome, our very first Camper. Took us all over the UK and Europe, Pompeii to Porto. Phot below taken in 87 around midnight, mid summer on the North coast of Scotland. We have some very fond memories 🤗

I briefly had a Mk1 Transit camper van over 30 years ago. It was converted when new by Holdsworth with an elevating roof. Before I got it it had only been used in summer for holidays and garaged when not in use. It was low mileage and no rust as a result.

I didn't keep it long as it didn't meet my needs and is the one vehicle I now regret selling. If it had been kept then and maintained in a similar way, I bet it would still be going now and be regarded as a classic with all the benefits that has, MOT exempt, £0 road tax and cheap classic vehicle insurance.
