hey folks, sold the wee vw, and bought a bigger vw!
Had it on the road for a weekend away in weardale, it was super but is going to take a bit of getting used to as it's much wider than the old one...and as the new van has all the facilities one could ever need (a bog for the other half, an oven for me and a fridge for all of us!) were going to risk taking the teenage kids wild-camping up on the isle of sky for a few days, any one got any hints on where to stop? Spending the first night at a camp-site (glenbittle i think) with friends, but I'm not keen on spending any more money on camp-sites after that

Hi just been on Skye for a week plenty places to stay over...We were up nr Staffin Bay pull in places with superb views,no problems a couple had no overnight parking but plenty other places .Also stayed at kyleaking big car park ok but we stayed in front of the old youth hostel its unocupied now..Saucy mary`s pub next door .Kyle as well down by the fishery pier.We used to live there so no problem finding places.Portree not so good it was very busy had a hard time finding parking place unless you go to the co-op supermarket market we did get in the large car park at the bus station but it was busy... no overnighting ... Fort william on the way back the Railway club Car park they let us stay there as we used club and know them. Also Rannoch moor large lay by and Piper to intertain us as well and couple of big stags around..

Easy way is to download Canalsman's Poi database...
Harder is to research earlier postings!

At Sligachan fork left towards Dunvegan, plenty of spots on the remains of the old road. After Dunvegan towards Claggan, nowhere suitable.
Towards Portree, a few spots on the right but can be noisy.
Portree, nothing.
North of Portree, just keep looking. Staffin to UIg road over the bealach, good spot at the top with superb views.
Most toilets have water taps.
