Oban - anyone been recently?

Going over to Oban for a couple of nights this week.
Anyone used one or more of the CUs available. We like to be near shops and pubs, and so the one by Tesco/Lidl looks good, but would appreciate any recent feedback.

I did read some time ago that overnighting in the big parking bays by the Supermarket had been stopped. Maybe someone can clarify this.

Strangely enough the local caravan site owner doesn't seem to like people just parking up. If as the article says the vans arrive late and depart early I can't really see that they are inconveniencing anyone.

Funny how the article shows just 2 vans legally parked during the day (in what could be an otherwise empty carpark), and a sound bite from a poor downtrodden campsite owner.

A well written and balanced piece by typical small town rag journalist.


We stayed up by the baths a few years ago.


PS. How do they get free leccy and aren't the toilets public?

I have parked at the north end of the promenade by the War Memorial.

Nice spot with a lovely view.

I have overnighted a couple of miles outside of Oban in a set back layby, it was a good spot only spoiled by the 'no overnighting' sign.
