I've been in France for a couple off weeks, I have an o2 contract with 30G date of which 25G can be used roaming. Now the App showed 28.6 G data left as I entered France but didn't count down after watching BBC iPlayer progs and general internet streaming stuff for a week, then end my month bill date 17th. and it reset to 30G. Looked at bill, showed only 1.4 G used, exactly as per app, I watched a few hours off stuff way over 1.4 G.
Now on to the next month and it is still showing 30G after using it alot, :), Anyone else's App not counting data used ?? What's going on.

We had a similar experience with Three a few years ago, where the roaming quota didn't seem to change. In the end I contacted their customer service to avoid a large bill. On that occasion I was told that the required usage data wasn't being passed on by the french networks and not to worry about it, there would be no roaming charges.

Yes, i`m on O2 as well with the same contract you have but through Tesco and my French usage didn`t show on the app either

We entered France early in the month so the usage would have been well under 1GB as that`s the start of my monthly cycle, Even after using it for tethering the Fire Stick in the tv to watch the whole of Her Majesty`s funeral ( 9.75GB ) as counted on my Samsung mobile data usage nothing showed and my data usage when we came back was still under 1GB on the app.

Mobile shows 8 G data used. Bill shows 1.4G

I just read Tesco are ending free data roaming in march

That`s for people that joined after 16th June 2022, i`ve been with them since January 2022 on a 2 year fixed contract.

Taken from M.S.E. webisite.

If you took out or upgraded your contract on or after 16 June 2022, the roaming charges will have been stipulated in your contract, so you won't be able to cancel penalty-free, according to Tesco Mobile.

If you joined or upgraded on or before 15 June 2022, you won't be affected, so in this case you might want to consider letting your existing deal roll over when it expires to keep the free roaming perk. You should, of course, check you're on a cheap deal first though and compare prices with other major providers factoring in their roaming costs if this is important to you.

Just spoke to Tesco customer services who confirmed that i will not be charged roaming when it is introduced because i joined before the cut off date.

So back in England now and the O2 APP has started counting down my data allowance, seems all or at least the vast majority of my data roaming wasn't accounted for on my trip. I did manually switch to the SFR network rather than auto mode 🤔

I normally leave mine on auto select which tends to be Bouygues Telecom but if it`s a rubbish connection i change it manually to either OrangeF or SFR which are also available to O2 customers.

For quite a while i`d no idea you could do that and put up with the bad signal until i saw a post off Canalsman on here saying it was allowed so i tried it and bingo, it worked a treat so no more rubbish signal over in Jonny Foreigner land which now is a good 5G for the majority of the time

Hi - so any idea if we can change over if we get a bad signal with 02 in Spain, please? - Plus I use to have an 03 dongle but I was overcharged 3 times when in Europe and only had it in my van - but it was connecting - my fault I guess - was a little upset when I made a complaint and it happened again and the last time costing £80 however it was their connection fault but was not re-embursed so I left them - Thinking of getting a Vodafone dongle from here in the UK to use, as I need a back up for work - or wondering to get a Spanish sim in my spare phone so I can piggyback - any advice please?

You should be able to choose a network when in spain. Look under networks tab and select manual rather than autoconnect. Takes a while to find available networks but you can then select one. Def worth getting a local sim also......search the threads as there have been recommendations but can't remember which!
Here is one thread

You should be able to change networks manually on your phone by going into settings > connections > mobile networks and searching then choose one.

The three available networks for O2 users in Spain are Orange, Vodafone and Movistar.

I don`t know how or if you can change networks on a dongle, i gave up using my Vodafone dongle and Three mi-fi because the signal was much stronger on my phone so i just tether to that.

ohhhh just received a text from O2 that i’ve used 50% of my 25gb allowance roaming checked online still shows only .45 used 99.65 remaining but restarts allowance tomorrow, so looks as though they are still tracking damn !

That's interesting, I didn't get any text warning, though maybe didn't use 50%, did check online & in App and monthly bill all concurred with only 1.45G used. And when the month rolled over showed 0G used 'til I re-entered England. I'm still wondering if it was because I locked onto SFR rather than the default which I think is Bouygues Telecom.

I`m with Tesco mobile ( O2 ).

Last year when we watched Her Majesty`s funeral whilst in France my months usage according to the phone was 23.18GB out of the 25GB allowed for roaming.

My bill showed approx 1GB and i never received any text messages or emails about it.

I'm with virgin (o2) last year's little trundle 48days around around nth Spain, Portugal, algarve a trip around the costas and back up through France. Left with 32gb of a (45gb £13 pmc) didnt register usage in fact rolled over +45gb whilst there scetchy at times but tethered to firestick most of the time. And quite happy. And better than my old three contract.
Just about to start a rolling monthly 30gb @£10 and with 37gb to roll over to that.
Hopefully will work as good in Norway later in the year.

The Sun reported that it's from May...

Specifically for the member that messaged me to say that the M.S.E. website talks crap and i will get charged EU roaming come what may.

I joined January 2022 and taken from my account on their website. Read the last line.
