How easy is it to use Now TV abroad, do you require any thing in addition to the stick, thought it was an idea, save taking my satellite with me.

You will only need enough data and to be able to hide what country your in.

Even better

But only for 30 days at a time

What happens when I've been watching abroad for 30 days?
As your NOW TV service is only for UK residents, roaming abroad is only available for 30 days at a time. After that, you'll need to confirm you're still a UK resident by watching NOW TV back in the UK before you can watch abroad again.

After you've watched NOW TV back in the UK again, you're free to start another 30 day roaming period next time you travel to any of the eligible countries listed above.

Ah  that`s kind of buggered that plan then :mad2:

When we go away it`s for roughly 60 days at a time and whilst it wouldn`t be on every day it would be spread over that period :rolleyes2:

Now TV uses a lot more GB data per hour than Netflix. There does not seem to be an option to lower the definition to minimise data use. You need to allow around 0.7GB per hour compared to 0.25GB per hour for Netflix. That is our reason for not subscribing to NOW TV as it would eat up our mobile data when roaming. BBC iPlayer is just about acceptable when downloading as it uses about 0.4GB per hour but it becomes heavier when streaming live at about the same rate as NOW TV. You cannot download NOW TV in the UK for viewing later in Europe. You can with Netflix and the iPlayer.

ITV player has download ability and can be watched when roaming if you subscribe with no limits but again is heavy on data so we don’t bother with that either. The darker evenings at this time of year do mean that we watch the box a bit more than we otherwise would. We have around 47GB of monthly roaming available across 2 phones and a Mifi modem.

We can HDMI the phones to the TV which is incredibly useful!

I do not think NOW TV will work through an HDMI connection as SKY put a block on this so another negative for NOW TV. You need an app on a Smart TV to view directly unless you can cast which is a topic on its own!

Try Tvcatchup, works everywhere through your browser, the app is not so reliable though.

you can have upto 4 devices registered to your Now TV account, so what you could do is setup a friend/family member with a device and ask them to watch a program on day 25, for example, and then "you" are back in the UK and can go then abroad again (as it were) for another 30 days.
Then repeat as often as required.

I didn't know the passes were freely watchable in the EU - that makes it handy - though I am guessing that won't appy to the terrerestial catch-up Apps (BBC, ITV, C4, Channel 5) you can access through the NOW TV box

Now TV only works through a HDMI connection so how can Sky put a block on using HDMI?

you can also run Now TV on a Laptop or Tablet - but I doubt an HDMI output to a TV from one of those devices would be blocked anyway as NOW TV is actually owned by SKY.
