I found a couple of helpful young ladies in a phone shop, one of whom was English. Apparently I have 14 days from the date of purchase to send a copy of my ID and everything else before I can top up, so Le Clercs will be getting a visit. Does anyone know what sale of goods acts apply in France?

The other problem is that this dongle will cease functioning later today or overnight and I'm back to square one.:mad2:

I stand to be corrected but I think that French Law states you must have a French Address for any cellphone and this is how they check

I think you are right, but...

LeClercs knew I was English and brought someone who spoke English to speak to me, who assured be it would be OK. I made it clear that I was on holiday and didn't have a french Address.
