About 20 days duration, starting near Brighton.

No big towns, lots of scenery, the drier the better.

Dordogne? You could be lucky but November? Ive been down there in October and its been lovely.

Ferry to Santander or Bilbao. Lots of lovely old towns and good vittles.
Plenty of aires. Avoid the heights.
Bring me a bottle of Carlos Primiero brandy back.

A few years ago we couldn't go on our usual October trip to France so went in November instead. We headed for St Nazaire then followed the coast back to the port.We were pleasantly surprised to find the weather was mild especially on Brittany coast. The last few days in Normandy were cooler. It was worth doing and would go again that time of year if we didn't have time to go earlier

Not sure the Mrs would enjoy 24 hours in the Bay of Biscay in November!!

That big boat is very stable and the matelots know how to drive it..
If you're worried, try Pompey to Caen, a 5 hour crossing. Then head south for a couple of weeks.

Spain & Portugal. Italy, Rome and south. Although a "taster" of Morocco is doable in 20 days too.

Spain not that far actually

I can be in Bilbao in about the same time/distance as John o Groats.

Plus there are easier places to stop en route.

Plenty of wonderful areas to visit in Britain, and with 20 days you can take your pick from them all.

We have been to a little house with a pool near Nerja a couple of times.
Hmmm.....

For me it's a place to go in the winter, cheaper food, cheap public transport, an hour and a half on the plane and blue sky during "our" winter.
