I am amazed that we are expted to pay huge amounts of money for our Motorhome which are all based on commercial vehicles which in commercial use would be expected to do a least 250k miles. And yet I now read that Ford are fitting a timing chain that can break early in its life, Fiat ,Pergot, Citroen, have terrible gearbox trouble also suffer with a host of other problems .As most Motorhome’s don’t do high mileage this should not be acceptable.

the choice is yours . nobody forces or makes you buy anything .
years ago i bought vw,s . now i prefer what i have .
having travelled in africa i saw the vehicles did what i wanted .
mind i did also see the british built vehicles were unreliable junk.
think my next one will possibly be chinese , they do seem to build top quality if you look around and at the right prices .

I think you will find commercial vehicles are designed for a life span of 6 years.

Brand new to scrap yard in 6 years because they are then worn out and beyond economic repair.

Of course some will last longer than that but it is not the manufacturers intention.

Honest John

Any one with a camper over 6 years im will ing to take it of your hands for free rather than just scrapping it,i like doing folks favours.:lol-053:

Your a good man, a lot of scrap yards are charging to take the things away !

To be honest most cars vans are dumped here after 3/5 years as classed as old bangers and folk would not like people to see them driving such,n/ireland has the highest number of new cars in europe.:drive:

i bought our local grave diggers tipper truck and converted it into a mini artic .

the postmans vans havnt been the same since his cat died .

You see plenty of 20 of years old motorhome in regular use. Good care and lack of winter use all help to keep a motorhome runing .OH and a good welder .

mine is 25 years old and the engine is sound as a pound (lol) - mebbe that should be "sound as a euro!! Cost me £10k
