I'm thinking of purchasing a sat nav and would like a 7 inch version (no wise cracks please) lol

Does anyone know about a Nosa tec sat nav and can you download POIs onto it?

Or would you recommend a similar satnav.

I bought a similar 7" version Haydn, in order that Julie would be able to use it if I was using the TomTom. They have quite a few features, and you can watch films on them when you are parked up. However, as a Sat Nav they are not very user friendly and nowhere near as good at the job as a TomTom.

I will use mine and see if it gets easier, and it is a always there as a backup, but I have a TomTom Truck (Supplied by Fairytooth) and there is just no comparison.

a friend of mine bought one of those. It was terrible. I think he used it twice before selling it.

I have now bought three of them. Got one two weeks ago and found it very easy to use,the 7 in screen is good, easy to read, I can see where we will be going in plenty of time, not sussed out the speed camera thing yet, just the basics, showed it to a friend who asked me to order one for him, today the manager of the site saw it, liked it and asked me to order one for him too!
I have a tom tom from fairytooth which I use for aires etc abroad.
How bad can it be for forty seven quid?
seamus.

I gave up on my Garmin when they wanted £50 for a map update so at that price if it is a bit of a dud, you still have a media player and a great place to store your photos.

Thanks Richard. That's the expression I was looking for - Meedya player!

Nosatec sat nav - avoid -

Our Nosatec sat nav broke (the off / on switch no longer worked) after 2 -3 uses. Bought on e bay from navibuzz - he had us send it back to him then told us he could not repair it so he threw it away. So much for the 2 year guarantee we thought we had! - Money down the drain - I would suggest avoid

Used mine in MH a few times now .....

and its been fine :cool1:

POI's installed with help of this POI support forum thread http://www.wildcamping.co.uk/forums...orry-7-satnav-running-igo-primo-software.html

I also use it as a reversing camera screen utilising the AV-in socket, I bought a reversing camera and ran the cable under the van using rounded staples total cost £15 :D

I use a Garmin Zumo daily in my works van (and on my motorcycles) which is great but wanted to input vehicle sizes for route planning as my Ci656 Carioca is tall and wide.

My biggest gripe is that the battery life is SHite so occupies a 12v socket continuously when travelling :rolleyes2:

ihave a acer a1810 tablet which is 7.9 inch tom tom sat nav so why not install it on your tablet

I have bought two, one for my m/h and the other for my brothers latest camper conversion.
I have been very pleased with mine as it has taken us to Spain and back, and especially please with the WC link on installing the WC POIs.
It records your journeys with time, distance, cost and fuel used if you program it. A no brainer at the incredibly low price. :)

Hi haydn

I trust you are well? I bought one of these and found it to be ok . i did load on the WC POIs pubstops etc and even an LPG POi file . but they don't show up like on a Tom Tom device as you drive along -they have to be searched for. if you were say going to Hereford and wanted to fill up with LPG or a pub Stop you would have to check out places along the route in advance or whilst you were driving to find them. They don't just bleep into view as it were when you are close to them. The WC and Pubstop icons don't appear neither but there are programmes out there that can add them -I am trying a few out but need the time to do it.otherwise the NOVOTEC sat Nav is good value for money in my opinion. There are a few write ups on the sat navs on this forum.

Im also delighted with mine, I bought it after I stood on my garvin nuvi 1 week before we were driving to Croatia. I bought it because it was cheep, and promised delivery before we left. We drove from Dunkirque to Croatia and back and never used a motorway and it never took a wrong direction, even in city centres, it's used extensively here in the UK and is ace, highly recommended. It is the 5" version but I have spoken to several HGV drivers who have the 7" and they like them too. Speed warnings when you exceed the road speed limit and a good speed camera database for all Europe. I think it covers all Europe and the Balkans and right across to Turkey. I payed £35 delivered, cheep as chips.

Map Use

Hi can any body tell me if you can plan a route by scrolling through the map or do you need to know where your are heading for

Thanks Rod

I bought one from ebay and it didn't work. Sent it back for repair and after several weeks they said that it couldn't be repaired and kindly offered me the chance to buy another at £20 or to have a 55% refund. So I would have paid about £18 for nothing.
STAY AWAY FROM THEM
Although they claim to be in Scotland I think that this is only a distribution centre as all correspondence was fro China

The Chinese always offer these 'deals' to solve problems. Just tell them you want a full refund and open an ebay case. It always gets sorted quickly then.

On another note, but Nozatec is working fine, and they were very helpful when I couldn't get full postcodes to work. The space in the middle is important, TomTom isn't fussed and I was used to that.

mine has also gone down, it will no longer find satellites it worked really well until then aswell. i had backed it up and installed pois that worked great, went to france and it wouldnt pick sats up once i got back in the uk so it still thinks its in calais :( all the way home (6hrs) wouldnt lock on. Ive reset it and also tried the backup and still nothing. Up until then i was really happy with it so i will check with the ebay seller and see if he will replace it, Just glad i had my trusty old tomtom in the van.

I`ve only just noticed this post so apologies if you`ve already got it sorted.

They do show up when you are driving but they are all the Google Earth symbol.

Menu > Settings > Map Settings > Place Markers and then you can tick the ones you want show on the map whilst driving.

They are listed alphabetically ............. France, Pub Stop, Tap, Toilets and Wild Camp so you`ll need to scroll down the list to find them all.

Been using it in anger for over 6 months now and it works very well here in the UK and in France and Belgium.

my big Michelin French road Atlas once blew closed on me from a gust of wind through the van window, good job I had my trusty TOM TOM with me!:lol-053:
