Northumberland, wild sites

Can anyone recommend somewhere near a beach in Northumberland, not much chance of getting on a site this easter so need plan B.

Druridge bay used to be really good but I'm told that the councils are now putting in height barriers or moving people on. Can anybody confirm that?

Cocklawburn Beach just south of berwick its great i know because i live here

A lot of spots have become a no go because of the new unitary Northumberland County Council. At Newton and other places there are double yellow lines and no overnighting signs. Bamburgh will (I expect) have the height barrier back on the car parks. There is always the layby a bit further along the Wyndings but I would expect a few vans to park there if the weather is good. These spots are OK through the Winter period but will probably be enforced during the rest of the year.

Have you tried the C & CC site at Beadnell? It is a good spot for a few days if you can get on. At a push, you could overnight at the side of the road between Seahouses and Bamburgh. There is a good wide grass verge in places.

The only other thing I can think of is to overnight inland and park up on the coast during the day.

We will be at a C & CC THS at Corbridge. It is inland but is a nice spot.

Go to where i mentioned no signs no yellow lines just the beach and some great spots

Cheers Tilleytom it looks like the very spot for us. How far is the nearest pub? I'll by you a pint! Alternatively look out for 'Neverthere' and pop round for a brew.

Hi, is the beach-front spot at Boulmer still ok? We are often in the area and use it a lot (but the last time was several months ago). If it is usable, it is one of the best wildcamping spots along the Northumberland coast.

We were there just over a week ago and got earache from (non-resident) dog walkers.

Look at the thread entitled 'Boulmer' for all the gory details.
