Noisy doors!

new motorhomer

Our motorhome (Chausson Welcome, Fiat Ducato base, 2010) has a really irritating squeaking sort of noise coming from the driver's door when we're moving. It seems to happen no matter what the temperature/weather and the only thing that stops it is pushing against it. This is obviously not a very practical solution. About to set off for France so any advice (in the next couple of days!) would be gratefully received! I may go insane if it doesn't stop :mad2:

mine did same ducato, it came from the door rubber rubbing against the door, ducato doors bend, allegedly happens lots, I used silicone spray and wiped the rubber over, don't use wd40 it can attack certain things

striker plate

Adjust the striker plate on the door pillar not the actual door inwards to hold the door tighter.Pencil mark around the orriginal position so you can see how much you have moved it or to return to its orriginal position. If you are not sure ask any bodyshop, they should be experts at this adjustment.
Use silicone on all rubbers to keep them supple.(stop smurking in the back row there!!!)
Good luck

Thank you!

Thanks very much, al and rickboy. I'll try the silicone first (only so much damage I can do there, I reckon) and try the strike plate (once I work out what it is) if that fails. Thank you so much: you may well have saved my sanity (and my long-suffering husband)!

Striker plate

Hoop of metal about 30 cm.Usually held by 2 alan key bolts, just loosen enough to move, but mark orriginal position first. You can buy silicone spray from a plumbers merchant and many other places.Vaseline would also do it.Its a good idea to lubricate the window channels with silicone spray and almost anything else that moves except your brakes.
Good luck
