Hi everyone.
we are just preparing our hymer 534 for a trip to islay and arran.
I have just filled it up with water to test it out and when i put the taps on in the hot position to fill the boiler nothing is coming through.
I can hear the water pump.
When i put the tap to the cold position there is only a dribble of water coming through.
Does the hot water require more pressure to come through than the cold.
Could it be the water pump on the way out,is there a way of testing it.
Can anyone recommend a water pump if this is the case.
Thanks.

I think you've got an airlock somewhere ...

As a suggestion, try draining everything down and starting again.

Try all the taps individually to see if any of them flow.

Check and clean your inline filter which is normaly fitted between the tank and pump. Then disconnect a pipe on the pressure side to see if your pump is working. If you need a new pump try and replace it with the same model, makes for easier fitting. Hope this helps.
Nolly.

Hi mate or brother as i should say,as i have a 544.:)
Dont know if you have just brought your van or what you know, but you can turn your tap on just enough so that the water comes out without the pump activating, just turn your tap on full and the pump should switch on,when filling up your boiler you will find that you need to switch the control knob to hot, this will allow air to escape and you will hear the water pump working as this is filling up your boiler, when the boiler is full the water will come out of your taps. This is the correct method of filling the boiler as it allows for the air to escape.Hope i have been of some help.

I find that if I start with all taps closed. Open the furthest cold and hopefully you will get a hiss of air. Close this valve and go to the next nearest. Do this until you get cold water running. Repeat for hot water.

Have you closed the drain valve?

Thanks everyone for your advice, maybe i havent been waiting long enough for the boiler to fill hence no water.I didnt relise that the cold would not run until the boiler had filled up with the taps in the hot position.
I will try again tomorow.
Has anybody been to islay, weve not been before but read a bit about it and it sounds great.we are not ones for visiting thr distillerys but i know a lot of.people go there for that.
Its the wildlife we search for so am hoping to see lots of it.

I have retried the taps today and after a bit of gurgling the water has come through. It does not seem to have the pressure like it used to but maybe the battery is a bit low because it has been stood for a while.
I have been filling the water tank fully before trying to bleed the air from the pipes and fill the boiler.should i only part fill the tank and then open the taps whilst the tank is still filling up.
we are taking it out for a run today to make sure it is ok for our trip next week.not going far, maybe formby point.

Hi everyone.
We ended up going to morcombe at hest bank, parking on the parking area over looking the beach over the level crossing.
There are typically english signs stating no overnight camping but we didnt intend staying overnight anyway.
Everything seems to be working fine and are now ready for our trip to scotland.
Hopscotch no 16 islay and arran.
On our way to see friends on siel island we are passing calander and i am hoping to stay overnight at loch venachar just past calander,on the map it shows parking and picnic areas.Has anyone stayed overnight here before.
