Hi all,
new here and after some tips. I’ve read a lot of stuff about wild camping being illegal and I’m unsure what to do.
I bought a vw camper the week before lockdown so haven’t used it yet! Now is the time! I will be using actual campsites mostly; however, We have two dogs, one of which isn't too well, so we really just want to drive to random places as much as possible with the little time we have left, where it’s just us and the boys. Wild camping seems ideal for this :) we live in cheshire so anywhere within 3 or 4 hours would be epic! Just us and the boys! We are very tidy and intend to leave zero trace behind. We also have an inflatable awning so anywhere where we could pitch that would be sweet. Only looking at doing numerous short 1 or 2 night stints.
any advice, hints, tips etc would be appreciated!
Hope all is well :)

As a full member you can use the Online map to find tried and tested locations within your travel radius. I would suggest not using the awning when wild camping as you lose the 'low profile' aspect which should be looking for.

Good luck and have fun

Totally agree with the above. I think there is a thread on here full of tips for wild camping. I'm sure someone knows where it is and will point you in the right direction.

As above.
Good luck have fun.
Come back, join and ask many, many questions, good avice will be given.

The national parks will be heaving this summer but having North Wales on your door step is a massive plus, now more than ever, I suspect finding some quiet spots for a night will be relatively straightforward (y)

Oh yeah! Just moved from n wales actually. I think we’re going to try the peak district this weekend. No plan, not much direction, just go for it :) worst case, it’s an hour or so drive home.

Have a look at the POI for the North western Lake district. Forget about Windermere etc and all the hot spots but there are some good places in the Lakes if you head for the quieter areas. Plus you have a little VW camper. You can park them anywhere, go under height barriers. Just be a bit sensitive to locals as these are not normal times and people in rural areas are not keen on strangers turning up right now. Plenty of places to lose yourself in one of those though.
