newbie heading north!

Hi there

I'm new to the site - got my first camper van last year (a lifelong ambition!) and have been up Glen Etive a few times. I'm heading up to Aberdeen on Saturday and am looking for somewhere to stay overnight, maybe about Braemar way. Does anyone know of any good sites? I'd like somewhere quiet and out of the way - but that is easy to find! My sense of direction is sometimes erratic!

Cheers :p

Welcome ...

There are quite a few options around Braemar.

As a site supporter you can download a ZIP file and readme file from the Wildcamping Map & POI forum.

The ZIP file contains 1,090 wilding sites and pub stopovers for England, Scotland and Wales. These can be loaded into Google Earth on your computer, and onto a satnav if you have one.

The readme.txt file has more information.

The latest update will be uploaded tomorrow or Saturday so it won't be in time for your trip.

But you will find several options around Braemar in the April version.

Hope this helps, and have a good trip.

Hi ,

From Memory The A93 craighall to braemar , and the A939 towards toumintoul has a fair few good places to stop off The Cockbridge area (A939) , I think had 3/4 decent places , although its quite a remote part of the cairngorm range., The Cairnwell pass has a large carpark at the ski lifts (Reportedly the highest road in the uk) is here.

I have driven these roads recently, and there are quite a lot of options along these roads, just as you recall :)
