Newbie and my Bailey Auto Approach 745

The Bailey was only our second 'van, which we bought 'fresh off the line' last October. Our first trip was from Inverness (where we live having moved from England) down to Essex, ferry to Denmark, through Sweden to Norway, where we drove into the arctic circle, in November/December :)

'We' is me, my husband and our dog, Rhed, who enjoyed a fantastic swim in this fjord;

We call it our 'escape pod', and we are about to fit it with a satellite dome and double up on the batteries - we just bought a solar panel to keep the electric topped up. We are also waiting on delivery of a biolite base camp stove, which burns wood (outdoors and off the ground) and the heat creates enough power to charge phones/tablets and charges it's own on board battery.

The addition of a 20l jerry can and a 25l beer keg filled with a back up water supply mean we could be out and about on our own for a looooooong time.... just the way we like it :)

Hi and wellcome.

Nice motorhome, looked at one last weekend. Seriously considering changing my Swift to a Bailey.

Happy camping.

Hello & welcome, hope Rhed had thermals on, that water looks mighty cold.

Hi guys, and thanks! I was glad to find this forum, most people with motorhomes seem obsessed with driving from campsite to campsite, which we never understood - we always thought the whole idea behind a motorhome was to go wherever you like, pull over and enjoy the view :)

Rhed is a German Wirehaired pointer, and is built like a tank - making her cold/tired is almost impossible! She swims in Loch Ness (about 10 minutes from home) in the dead of winter and it's her favourite thing to do, so this fjord was nothing but a bit of exercise for her!

I HIGHLY recommend the Bailey (although of course everyones wants/needs are different of course). It's an unbelievable piece of kit for the price tag. It really is our home from home, especially once we get those mods sorted ;)

Amazing Trip

This is one of the trips we are thinking of in the next couple of years so would love to know more. Funnily enough with our dog (a Vizsla/Lab cross) called Red!

It certainly was idyllic - not a another sole around, we had this entire glacial fjord to ourselves and our lovely motorhome to make up a nice hot cuppa afterwards - heaven!

Another Red!! We now also have a border terrier named Indigo - we were going to get another German Wirehaired pointer, but figured the van wasn't big enough for two ;)

I'd be happy to let you know anything that might help, it was the trip of a lifetime but the 'ice road' conditions made it scary and awe inspiring in equal measure :)
