We never win anything so, amazingly, we have won a weekend camping at the Newark Show this weekend, we only found out last night so it is very short notice. As we are new to this we have only ever been to two shows, Newbury last year and a September one at Malvern last year with the Johnny Cash Tribute. The Newbury one was quite good but not enough for the weekend and the Malvern one, apart from the entertainment was very poor. Now, as it is a long way to Newark for us we are wondering if it is worth it. Entertainment is good, Grumbleweeds and Elton John tribute. So has anyone been before and can advise us as to the quality of the stands etc, please?

Hi Moonshadow555

I have been a couple of times as a day visitor but never overnight. Took us a couple of hours to go around but then that was it, nothing else to do so came home. It about an hours drive for us and I don't think we will ever bother again. However we have the Peterborough show which is much better, just a few miles from us so we are a bit spoilt.

Hi Moonshadow

We went last year and it was our very first show. It was very well supported with lots of motorhomes, caravans and RVs. There were lots of stalls and we managed to buy the things that we needed and so did our friends. I think that the trades were represented well, but as it was our very first one, cannot truly tell. We found enough to look at for the whole weekend.

We never attended the entertainment so I cannot advise. Motor Roamers had a rally there, so we made our own entertainment. If you have free tickets, what is there to loose?

Hi Tbear & Tugga,
Thanks for your replies, sort of one of each. The only thing we have the to loose is the cost of the fuel to get there which I calculate at about £100, we are pensioners! Will keep pondering about it!

My advise would be to sell the tickets on here and go to a much more local show. Unless you intend to call in on the way to somewhere else, such as a trip up the yorkshire coast.

Good idea, except we don't have any tickets yet!

Mmm, if its going to cost you that much in fuel, and you cannot go on to somewhere else, then give it a miss. It was worth it for us as we had a shopping list of goods to buy, which we did, plus some! :rolleyes2:

Thanks for the reassurance, We decided not to go and put a post on here to give the tickets away. Someone has asked for them and hopefully they will enjoy!

We went to the Newark show last year.
We stayed in the van for two nights (Fri and Sat), we planned to buy wind screens for our awning and we were able to order the extra large front screen and pick up the side screens. It took about 2.5hrs to go round the show, and then we cycled into Newark the rest of the day. The show in the evening was very entertaining and the following morning we had another quick look round to see what I next wish would be, and then we left in the afternoon.
overall a very good weekend.
