I’ve set up a new Wales group. (click on the community button on the top of the page then click on the title Wales Group)

This is open to everyone!
To visitors and people who live in Wales.

I’ve been steadily building up the group so it is worth looking in on.

I hope to promote Wales and give as much information as possible to all who wish to motor home here.

I would particularly like members from all the areas to contribute to the existing threads and create their own.
I live in South East Wales and would love some input from all areas, Even if you are a visitor.

I will also try to use it as a notice board for events and possible meets.

Please have a look and see what you think, I would welcome your comments.

If it’s what members want I will endeavour to keep it up to date.

Phil.
Is there any way to know the number of visits to the group?

Many Thanks

Haydn.

Thanks for setting this up, Morgan the Moon.:D

This isn't directly-related, but, I've been looking for sites in the Caldecott/Newport/Chepstow area for ages, and would be keen to get any pointers.
Convenience and security are more important to me than scenery. From there, I can easily get to the lovely places in the daytime.
Sorry if I've messed up your thread, but I do intend to put up a few ideas on the main, linked thread. These would be about Mid Wales, as I did a fair bit of work around that part.

Btw, just in passing, I can say that traffic around newtown powys is becoming diabolical now, especially with the holiday season beginning. If folk can get though some other way, they will avoid tedious delays.

It would be great sean if you could put some info on about Mid Wales particularly if you know of any pubs around that area that would allow overnight stops. I intend to head that way myself this summer.

I will try to put some info on the group about the Newport area. There is a pub in Tintern The Anchor that welcomes overnighting.

I would say the best site in Newport area is Tredegar house which is Caravan club a really nice site.
website below but not the first photo.

Thanks for those, Morgan.

I was hoping to get somewhere out on those flatlands ( the reens?) near llanwern steelworks ( closed).

Staying near pubs wasn't my thing ( I used to end up stayiing inside them!:(:rolleyes2:), but when I find any, I'll post.

In the meantime, a few weeks ago I notice some MHs parked behind a pub near Welshpool. It was the Green Dragon, Buttington. The twisty main road from Shrewsbury goes right past it.

Thanks for the tip off on the pub Sean,I will need to contact the landlord to see if it is ok to list it.
I'll also look into the area east of Caerleon for you.

I've tried joining two groups this being one. I lived in Ruthin for years and a part of me has never left Wales. I can't seem to joing any groups having said that. Ican't choose even a generic avatar either. Do you think this is because I'm not a paid up contributer?

Hi Swishy,
I believe you have to be a full member to access the groups and I know you have to for an avitar.

It is well worth joining for the POIs (the 4200 free places in the uk)

I would welcome you joining the Wales group and perhaps you could add some info for your area.

Ok thanks. I suspected it would be the case. I guess I'm just dipping my toes prior to joining.

We do get the odd shower or two that tests the will to live.

Weather forecast for the eastern seaboard of the USA is always worth watching for our neck of the woods and wait just over a week to see what happens.

Will post some photos when I get home. Currently enjoying the sun down at my other HQ in Toulouse.

As for joining the group, would love to but could not find a join button.

Ok, will see possibly about joining.

But should anyone need info about life on the edge of civiliation please do ask and it will be freely passed on.

Join flyingbusman I'm sure you would have a lot to offer the forum from deepest Pembrokshire.

My Granny was born in the Port Talbot area. Does that qualify a Geordie to join your group?

I also have a problem for you Welshmen to solve. On one Census, she was from the Ogmore Valley which I know exists but on another one it says 'Oysnou Valley', that one has eluded my research but must be an alternative (possibly the Welsh language equivalent)?

You have 24 hours to complete your mission otherwise your gonads will self detruct.

Yes maingate you can join we aint fussy, we'll take a quarter Welsh Geordie. lol
I'm hoping to make it the biggest group.

That's quite a poser, my father was from the Ogmore valley area and I've not heard of it in that area. I thought it may be toward Swansea but not sure. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm you got me thinking now you bugger.

'Oysnou Valley' is indeed the Ogmore Valley. If you go through the old cesus records you will find references to people born in Ogmore in some cesus years and in others the same people stated as born in 'Oysnou Valley'. I came up against this when reserching some peoples past in Pen y bont.
