hi all its been a while since i was last on here as i sold my transit camper, but ive got the urge again to convert another but slightly different needs this time.i need a van for work so need best sort of fuel economy if thats possible,i also breed labradors so need to have cages in the back but want to go to game fairs etc and days outits not really needed for sleeping in.so my questions are which van would give me most of these points,do you suggest still insulating even though its going to be a day van,can i still call this a van for insurance purposes and am i asking for the impossible.regards jack.

Osiyo Jack, Sounds like a long wheelbase Ford or Sprinter job to me! A pal just got a long, hightop Transit and it is like a cave! Room for a party in those beasties! HTH, Paol.

Another possibility is the Iveco Daily....Hi Cube.

I have seen a lot of these used in Motorcross circles etc...enough space for the bikes, spare bits and clobber.

Plenty of living space too.

In terms of winterising, I imagine you will add a bit of weight which will affect economy.

But it seems to me there is always trade offs pro's and cons with all vehicles.

thanks guys ive looked at these vans as ive trawled through sites etc they do make great campers etc,its just finding the right balance for work and days out with the family and dogs.

Crew Cab

There are some excellant crew cab versions of Transits about, ex Railways, idealy suited for conversion. They have a rear tools area that could be adapted for your needs, forward has nice seats and table, hot water, microwave, battery bank, diesal heater, inverter, lights etc. My brother bought one for 6 grand off ebay, 3 or 4 years old, FSH, excellant condition, very low milage. The crew quarters are lined with nice clean wipe service and massive alternator and electrical supply. !5 grand worth of extras fitted when new going for joke prices.

Modern Turbo engines that give a good return on fuel and are fast, ideal for those self builds!
