Hi there, I'm really pleased to be a part of this site. I've been wild camping round Cumbria for years now and when I get a moment I will tell you about some of the lovely places I've been to so you can enjoy them too. I live in Carlisle and am looking for somewhere close by to head off to later today. I'm not a keen lay-by fan, I prefer being in the middle of no-where... any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks xx

Try the top of newlands pass near keswick . You can easily walk to the top of the fells and have a great view .even keep an eye on your van at the same time !
Or drive through portinscale, and once you get sight of the lake from the side of catbells look for where it has been quarried out , you can tuck your van in there and wake up with fantastic views over derwentwater.
Or the Bottom of honister pass ....very remote feel about this place but only a few miles from keswick.
Done all these myself without any problems

Thank-you very much for your reply. I think I might do the Portinscale one. I've not been up there. I feel excited about finding all these new hide aways. Enjoy your weekend x
