Can you give a bit more info? What is wrong with the clutch? Juddering? sliping?

John

clutch smells and doesnt want to reverse up hills .not to keen on traffic lights or rounabouts either.

There must be something wrong with it from new. 800 miles is too low for a clutch to slip. Don't know if the new Fords have a cable or hydraulic operation, but it may be possible the cable was wrongly adjusted? Presumably the base vehicle is under manufacturers warranty still? Did you have it from new? Make a fuss it is very unusual , can't be wear and tear, even if drove with foot riding the clutch.

could be bad driving ,hee hee
i think we may have heard of similer problems with a similer type of vehicle .sounds like judder gate mk2 . mk1 was fiats . keep complaining get very stropy it takes severasl to complain to get anywhere phone ford ask for your monety back . unfit for intended use. you will have to be very forcefull. we could still do with more info .fwd or the rwd etc . think you may wish you bought something else . cheers alan.

you would have to be a very bad driver to burn a clutch out at 800 miles .it is fwd unloaded and unused 2.2 durateque engine 5 speed

My dad recently had this problem with a brand new car which had only done 3000 miles (a Suzuki). He got no joy under warranty from the local dealership, so wrote to the MD and has had ALL his money (£600) refunded along with a big apology.

yes it is new on a 59 plate fords are saying that it is an import so warranyt is fot 2 y ears instead of 3 only warrantys dont cover wear and tear very clever i think seeing i cant prove anything it could be anything bad ajustment warped clutch damaged flywheel or anythin.they also do not return faulty parts when replaced so you still dont get to see whats wrong .or more like u cant argue the toss could do with independant engineer.or maybe trading standards as far as i can see this van is not up to the job it is a 6 berth what would it be like fully loaded going up a hill?this van is mum and dads life savings so to say we are all sick as achip is an understatment specially as mum has been seriously ill since she bought it and is only just getting better .sorry if it sounds like a rant but slightly p off

to be honest its very hard to get a clutch manufacturer to warranty clutch slip. you can burn one out very easily. i ran my own garage for 20yrs so have had experiance of this sort of thing. shame you didnt take it back imediately you had a problem. waitng for the first service is not in your favour. a badly adjusted clutch could have been saved way before 800ml. i said it with tongue in cheek but it does happen. does it judder if reversing up a steep hill. you could google judder gate on the webb think you might find alot of hints to help you. cheers alan.

I have a Nexxo T620G on a Ford 57 plate. Had it from new and has now got nearly 30,000 on the clock. Been used well and had no problems.

the part they take off are legally yours . they can only keep them if sending them back for warranty. they are stealing your parts if you dont get them back. refuse to pay and call the police . theft is a crime . if they are billing you for new the old is your property and must be made available to you. theft is depriving you of your property .ask to see the general manager and be firm. the importing does not contravine the warranty .tell them its theft and report them to ford and any motor association they belong to . they may have signs outside displaying this. be hard but firm ,polite but get what you want across.
cheers alan.

Get in touch with Trading Standards. They will tell you how to go about getting this sorted out.

Do not name the company that you are dealing with on internet forums as this can work against you. Find someone to speak to at Ford UK and inform them of your problem and that you are prepared to take action to get the matter rectified if Ford carry on with their present dismissive attitude.

If you still have a problem down the line, you may have to get an independant engineers report which will not be cheap as the clutch will have to be dismantled for inspection.

Best of luck.

I think I hold the record for clutch replacement.

I ran a small bus business (29 seater Bedford) in the early 1960s and had a Mk 2 Ford Consul Farnham Estate. I had just had a new clutch fitted to the car and found one morning that the bus battery had gone flat. I hadn't a set of jump leads long enough, so in order to service my contracts I needed to get the bus started. YES. I did tow the bus with the car and it burnt the clutch out doing it, but it got the bus started. I kept my contracts going, no one was late for work or school.

I went back to the Ford dealer and said I needed a new clutch. They said I didn't. Anyhow the fitter dropped the gearbox and bell housing and then agreed it was burnt out. Clutch had only been in a week and had done about 50 miles.

The lad that dropped the box later worked for a local motor factor and every time he saw me he used to comment about the old Consul. Incidentaly I had that estate car 10 years and only got rid of it when the chassis split in two behind the front seats. Don't build them like that now.
