It certainly looks better than the outgoing model. The original single sided swing arm model was the best in my opinion. Sublime bike.

Interesting comment about outgoing model...they say (mr Honda)... it replaces nothing.. and is a new genre
but...it will, in it's 2 guises.. be a sports tourer and a pure tourer (derivative yet to come to market) and therefore do what the blackbird did and what the pan-euro tried to do.

As i understand it... only the fireblade will remain.. this, and derivatives from it, will be it over 1000cc (excluding the goldwing/silverwing)

wow .....back in the 80s mcn ( motorcycle news) would have illustrations of the bikes of the future, looking like spaceships and going like rockets ! .well the future is now and they are here ( look at that pipe ). i prefer more of a retro bike myself but this bike looks impressive .....even with the old captain on board

I have to agree, it looks stunning (the honda not AJ:rolleyes:)

I was very close to owning a vfr800 and the seller had second thoughts ...pity it was a bargain :rolleyes:I ended up with a Yamaha Fazer which in itself is no bad bike IMHO then a beemer..

However this vfr 1200 looks the business doesnt it ?...I like the fact it is a little understated in the looks dept but I bet it handles a dream.

It will be interesting if after the gibberings we get Aj's true impressions.

For me, potential as a tourer !!.. It will have spirit thats a foregone, I am interested in the ability to blast a lane on a sunday and double up down to the south of France.

I have a sneaky happy in either role..but Aj hopefully will confirm.

Power of dreams eh ?

Nice bike 'suits you sir' as they say.
As long as nobody is going to spit their dummy out about going off fred, what about a bit of bike talk (reasonably sensible & not a slanging match).

I used to be into bikes in my younger days (we laughed our heads off at the first jap crap bikes & said they would never catch on) got older had a few of these when they started to improve, usual stuff got married, kids, mortgage etc. bike left to rot at the side of the house 'til I sold it to somebody for his teenager to play on . Now retired & got a nice little 125 that goes in the back of the van, thinking it would give us more freedom to visit places on our travels but have found that I really enjoy riding again. This time managing to convince the wife it's a good idea.
As I said in another fred I fancy something a bit bigger, too old to be bothered about performance I'm more interested in something with a bit of comfort & looks good . Don't want to start big arguments about harleys being crap & breaking down all the time (there does seem to be some reliability issues about older bikes) what about some of these Chinese bikes  you can't dismiss all of them out of hand. Many Jap bikes have some or all of their parts made there, don't forget what we thought of the first Hondas. In fact China makes most of the stuff around for other countries to sell.

I think Lexmoto will do very well, I recon they will take over where the Hondo 90 moped left off, cheap and utalitarian can be fixed by anyone with a couple of spanners.

As for the 'performance' bikes out of china well currently I do not think they are up too much but as they say 'watch this space' one thing you can garantee with the chinks is they are persistant.

The big Jap and UK machines are very expensive and lets not forget they got where they are by producing a cheap bike and filling a hole in the 1960's, The japs need to be careful that the kids don't suddenly find cheap chink bikes appealing I don't think they currently have an answer.

Theres a motorcycle shop set up near to where I live, just a guy & his wife. He is selling Chinese bikes, Sinnis & Keeway. He had a couple of Sinnis 125's, I think they use the Suzuki engine. They looked ok, price was reasonable cheaper than a Jap equivalent.
One of the big issue I see with the chinese bikes are there are just to many manufacturers, spares seems to be a big problem. Also they have a bad reputation on build quality to overcome before they become accepted. There is no reason why they can't eventually become world class, they have a massive advantage in cheap labour costs that must in turn make them good value.

fully agree with ya! my partners parents have both passed away within last 11 weeks, planned to have the cruise of a lifetime when retired, sadly both struck with ill health. left a tidy sum for partner, brother and grandkids!!! thankfully none of them are gona squander but are certainly gona do something with money left to them! and they realise now lifes very short!

Looks a lovely bike apart from that Velocette tail pipe!

had hondas for 20yrs luv em, last one tho' was a cbr 1000 'g' reg i bought as basket case 78k on clock but speedo broke guy reckons it was more like 90/100k,very heavy tho' that 1200 looks a fair bit like wise.if you look at the chinese bikes they are the old jap bikes of late! there was talk of one chinese company planning on producing a fireblade copy for 5/6k don't what happened about it tho', ther is a hyosung 250 that looks along the lines of an harley w/o the cost.

the chinese will be the japanese in a few yrs ;)

Buy it now, bring it to santa pod and drag it, that exhaust weighs more than my race bike!!!!!!!!
