New Batteries fitted

Just put 2 new ''627'' type batteries on the merc 814.When disconnecting the old ones..bit of a pain,there was a lug on the ''positive'' side of one of the batteries,''no wire connected'',long gone.
Would this be an old earth lead to the chassis,or maybe something else?

I expect it was left over from some previous accessory,

it won't be an earth lead unless the bus is positive earth ?

It was for the time travel device that was removed some time ago, because the martians fell out with us and wanted it back.








LOL. Impossible to say what that wire that doesn't exist does, or does not, do. Sorry.
