Cheers Trevor, everyone should watch that, now we all have vans just imagine how you would feel if the police started smashing your windows for no reason at all, I've never had a love of the establishment and though have always been a rebel and tolerated whilst protesting loudly the myriad of stupid laws I never joined the movement. Most of the travellers did NOT claim benefit and lived free of the state. This film makes me ashamed to be British. Had all those traveller been in work then a lot of you would have been on the dole. Having lived through it then seeing the whole scene as in this film is an eye opener. Live and let live, and don't blame them for our stupid no wild camping laws.
 
Thanks for the reply's glad you's like the vid, its a blast from the past for me and it seems to me things have not changed all that much since then as the powers that be still want to conform everyone to there ways, like they dont want people to be of a free spirit.:(

Seen your origional thread earlier and tried to view the link but the buffering went on forever, I'll try again in the morning ,I got the drift of it after reading Wildmans post.

Sorry you were no able to see it Lenny, I have just had my PC fixed And its fast so the vid is no probs for me.
 
Also have a look at Alan Lodge's website. He has chronicled the New Age people for many years.
His account of the so-called Battle of the Bean Field makes for disturbing reading because that was done in our name.

Glad you got to see it Lenny and i think the police went totaly overboard smashing there homes:mad:, anyway enough said.

It appears the same action taken by pikees which from the above suggests you support.

Double standards??
 
Hi,Shortcircuit,I suggest you watch the rest of the vid and the follow up vid (beanfields) and then ask yourself....does anyone deserve to be punished in this manner?
 
I have taken a bit more time and there is always two views. Correct me if I'm wrong, but what I see is a rabble invading private property.

"All we want is a peaceful...." Why come in the first instance when it was obvious what was going to happen.

If the police were able to take more forcefull action against todays pikes then wild camping would be the whole better for it.

Different view, but my choice.

You cant juge a book by its cover, watch the whole vidio they were old school Hippies not violent yobs.:rolleyes:

Yes,I respect your opinion but what if the police were to mistake us for "pikees(in your words) and beat us about the heads?

As I've said, no one deserves to be punished in this manner.

The response of the police was amateur, to say the least.

And i dont believe that because they would not stop with the pikes they would ban everyone from camping in places other than sites, dont forget some of the pikes have better vans than ours so it would not be possible to distinguish one group from another.

The hippies of yesterday are the parents/grandparents of todays generation and look what they have spawned and we are responsible, not the government, we voted them in!

Quality of van has nothing to do with it. Just look around a site vacated by the pikes and you can easy determine a wilder and the torrags

I do not support pikes and as you say hippies of yesterday are the parents/grandparents of todays generation, maybe the pikes today have got a problem with law and order after seeing their peaceful parents being attacked by the police with more force than necessary.

I dont agree, if they have good quality vans they will look as good as any other so how will pc plod going to know if you are a pikes or a wildcamper.
I am no way sympathetic with pikes its disgusting what they leave behind I know I've experienced it first hand.

As were my parents and I did not go freeloading under the hippee guise. I had more responsibilities built into me by my parents.
