Need some motivation to build another

Ive been offered a lwb high roof Iveco Daily for a bargain price from a pal. His intention was to convert into a motorhome but has lost interest after collecting various parts and fitting windows and a spare wheel mount on the back. Thats all he`s done. Its a 2.5 diesel, 98 with tatty bodywork, no tax, no mot but only needs minor work to pass.

I have the time, the space, the ability etc... but not the desire. Someone inspire me please!

How much longer is it than your current van? I would guesstimate at least 1.2metres. Think what you could get into that space:eek::eek: even a fixed bed across the back with a garage space underneath accessed from the back doors:cool:

Also the Iveco has a higher GVW so you can do something useful with the space, including all the unused space under the floor for big water tanks, maybe a fixed LPG tank, 2 X 110amp batteries.

Balance against: Bit more difficult to park in average carparks. If the bodywork is really tatty, rusty and dented then you may be classed as a NAT (new age traveller) Bodywork is everything on an older van to get a smart conversion out of it and quite costly to fix up. With your skills it may be a goer judging by the job you did on your current van:D

Yeah its probably at least half again as long and half again as tall as my van. It would easily take a fixed double bed, kitchen, sitting area and small toilet/shower room. I could do it - question is do I want to? ;)

I`m going to do it.... no, can`t be @rsed, yeah I`ll do it.. nah.....

My newly/almost finished van is crying out to be used and I already have WTM syndrome (way too many projects).

get off for a week or so in the van you have now then will
give you the get up and go to do another 1 even better and more room

Yep :) Please can you advise where to find 1 week of sunshine? ;)

We`re away this afteroon or tomorrow morning at latest for a week or so.

i will be around Pwllheli, Porthmadog nest week

OK DO IT!!!! IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR ONE OF THESE, and if you dont do it THEN I WILL HAVE TO COME UP THERE AND BEAT SEVEN SHADES OUT OF YOU, That solves my living problems, should get 7 years this time.
Does that solve your motivation problem!! Knowing a syco is watching you:mad:
Otherwise just sell it on to someone who is more motivated:)

my opinion, fwiw, body condition is every thing, mechanicals are (relatively) easily sorted but rust is very expensive to put right properly and not the sort of thing most folks can do at home....

if the shell is good goo for it, otherwise pass as your heart won't be in it :)

just to spur you on a little, when you get views like this from your own hard work it's worth every second

LOL Psycho watching me :D

Right, I know whats up with me. I havent enjoyed my still very new van enough to have ideas for improvement on another. Its still in the "ooo innit great and perfect and everything so why do I need another?" stage.

Bodywork isnt too rusty but it does have quite deep dents here and there. I can get them fixed, theyre not a problem but I struggled for space with my "little" Relay van when it came to the spraying. I was thinking of repairing the dents, patching whatever needs it, then vinyl wrapping it. The surface only needs to be sound for that, doesnt matter what colour it is underneath as the vinyl will cover just about anything.

Simon, that beach looks like Southport - is it?

Well, the van is packed and we`ll be off shortly. No idea where to LOL :D No idea when we`ll be back either :D:D

have fun mate there the best times
nothing set or planned just go and come back when ever your ready
i love it

some of the best trips weve had have been totally unplanned,,just point it and go !!

Well we got back on Friday night, then spent Saturday in Southport, Sunday unpacking, Monday catching up on work and today I got around to looking at this van with an eye to buying.

I`ve decided against it so if anyone else is interested the details are in the for sale section.

Just do it!

You've already proved you can, go create a motorhome! I'm converting an LDV with room for a shower room, etc. Check out SBMCC for ideas and inspiration. - As for the bodywork, I thought you resprayed the other van. Filler don't rust and your paintwork is more than up to the job. Good luck and look forward to seeing you show off the finished van.

Nah I`ve made my decision. I don`t need more than I`ve already got and I don`t like repeating projects, not even a bigger version. Someone else can have a go, might encourage a new wildcamper to join us :)

Cheers for the compliments, I`m already a member of SBMCC, very good info on their site.
