well the old beddy has gone to new owners ,so i am now vanless ,i sold it because i couldent carry my grand kids in it as there are no seatbelts in the rear so now looking for somthing that can carry them in some comfort and seatbelted ,and also something for the wife and myself to overnight in for the weekend only thing i can think off is the renault espace 2.2 deisel ,seven seats all belted and the benifit of being able to remove the seats and plenty of room for a blowup bed . ive looked at a toyota emina, estima but the insurance is stupid unless you get a non import previa and there 2.5 petrol auto bit thirsty .wondered if i could at some time fit a bongo type elevating roof to an espace anybody any ideas

Sorry to hear of your loss. Good luck with your search for a worthy replacement!

I would recommend a mitsubishi delica, 7 (or 8 depending on model) seats, 4wd for proper wilding and the seats all fold flat to make a bed(s) bit thirsty yes but they are dirt cheap nowadays and although you pay a small premium for insurance with it being an import think of the damage it'll not have incurred by not being on salty british roads all its life!

Hi Mandrake,

What about a standard van conversion but leaving/putting back the original three seats at the front. You can then have four belted seats but you and the missus can have a bit of comfort if you get a few days away. Pain in the parts getting from front to back but nothing like the back-ache you will get sleeping on an airbed. You get all the benefits of having a good cooker, fridge and loo.

cheers for the replies will keep looking for something .was looking at a espace or a toyota estima that type of thing, but as the long trips have to be put on hold for a while may just run a larger type estate car ,then look round for a van to convert into a weekender .
