I've got a navman but cann't say what model till tomorrow but its an excellent piece of kit especially the bigger screen, easy to use.

Hi Jas - I bought a V735 in January. Haven't used it for a journey yet but to be honest I'm a bit disappopinted as I can't receive a single TV channel on it, not even with the aerial extension thing that comes with it. Probably fine in Europe in those countries that are broadcasting fully digital but here in the UK we're running both analogue and a weaker digital signal which isn't potent enough for the V735. Was hoping I might pick up something in Cornwall when we visit in April as apparently Cornwall has already undergone the digital conversion that the rest of the UK will receive in 2012.

Yup can confirm that the Navman/Mio V735 will find around 39 Freeview stations in Cornwall and also tested at Yeovil, Somerset where 37 stations were available. All stations found by using the small built-in aerial!

Lovely picture too!

Hi Coolasluck - I believe the only sat nav models on the market capable of receiving digital TV (Freeview here) are the two Mio (formerly Navman) units -the V500 (5" screen) or the V735 with the mighty 7" screen. I have the V735 and in the van it doesn't look too big when dash mounted although in something like a Ford Ka or Peugeot 107 I imagine it would restrict the driving view a fair bit. Must admit I was disappointed when it couldn't locate a single channel in my area (Kent) but after some research I discovered Cornwal had already been upgraded for full digital TV, what the rest of the country will be going through in 2012, and when I tried the TV function on holiday there last week it tuned in around 37 stations and looked amazing! I was well pleased. Most of the ime I plan to use it as a sat nav of course but nice to know we can watch a bit of TV in the evening when in Cornwall again. Saying that though I did receive channels at Yeovil, Somerset so I guess it's safe to assume anywhere in the West Country will be good for some Freeview on these units, unless you're in a hole somewhere, lol!

Cheers, yes for once down here in devon and cornwall we were the first to switch to digital, sounds like a good idea to me,tv on a sat nav,i can watch football and the wife can watch cash in the attic:):D

We have to get some items before going away in june and a sat nav is one of them, its funny as for me technology seems to be getting a bit confusing, its a bit like fashion really and a bit like my hair changing too quickly, fortunatly though these days its trendy to be bold!!!:D......my hair left me quite some time ago....now where did i put that book on technology....
