just returned from the Caravan Boat and Motorhome show at the N.E.C:confused: What a load of rubbish.... I am really begining to see just how bad a state the M/H industry is in. Major buiders who did not show were very noticable by their abscence.... No Dethleffs:eek:, No Laika:eek:, No Lunar:eek:, No Knaus:eek:, No Pilote:eek::eek:, No Home car, and lots of usual big boys not there....... Don Amott, Discover liesure or Glossop caravans The place was nearly empty by 16.30 when I left and chatting to lots of salesmen, It appears things are very bad, they were,nt even trying to sell, just having a moan.

To top it all they all seem to think that massive price hikes due in April will stop things dead.:( So if you want to buy new.... get in Quick.

scottish show

the scottish show was rubbish too. i really grudged the entrance fee. if it hadnt been for the good company i was with i would have left after 1/2 an hour

The Manchester one in Jan was pretty poor but I had a free ticket so.......... But I wont do any next year..... was thinking of down sizing to a Adria twin type van.... the best one of the lot is the Auto-Cruise Pace .... I couldnt believe how tatty the Hymer Car was a real donkey even the Tribute was tons better.

We found Glossop caravans, even spoke to Howard, the salesman that sold us our first motorhome.
We also saved approximately £300.00 on a satellite dish and solar panel setup from Moore Power, so we cannot complain.
I agree it was much more quiet than last year but I like that.

I would like to thank Lenny for arranging this weekemds meet to clash with the NEC. Lenny you have probably saved me from changing the van! I had even sowed the seeds of the idea with her indoors. Last time I only went for a look and still came out with a new van!

As for Glossop Caravans, I will not ever go there again, after dealing with them once. In fact Howard avoided me last time we were in close proximity. Something probably to do with me starting to write letters that mention solicitors. Shame really as I try to buy local where possible.

Where were Glossop?.......... don't tell me ..... in the caravan hall:rolleyes:

Well, we were there - apparently singlehandedly keeping the industry afloat then, 'cos we signed our life savings away on a new motorhome - our first! Eek!

I'm loving reading this site and imagining where we can go. Look forward to getting to 'know' you all a bit.

Welcome to the wild bunch then! I'm sure you'll love the experiences your new mh will bring you - hope you have lots of fun with it!:)

We went on Saturday and it was packed with people. A lot of the stands appeared to be busy. We came away with an 8 in one TV and a Sat Nav, both things I didnt realise I needed. We left saying how good it was. Ok we didnt go to buy a new Motorhome as we are taking delivery of a 2004 Swift Sundance this Friday, but there seemed to be a bit of everything there - Big RV's, 5th Wheelers, plenty of variety of Motorhomes. Having said that I wanted to see the Danbury Type 2 VW, but unless I missed it, it wasnt there.

NEC Saturday

We were there Saturday as well. Had a great day although had very tired feet at the end. Guess it depends what you are looking for. Bought some LED lights from C.A.K. Tanks. Very impressed with their bits and bobs. Stayed the night on site for the 1st time. Bit pricey but nice not to have to drive off somewhere for the night and the inclusive entertainment was an extra bonus. :D

Thanks for the welcome Bodger and Tom. Now we've got over the shock of All That Money  we're so excited.

(Actually tbh I don't think we really care so much about the money... more about being alive now and having some fun.)

I have already planned about a million visits. A night spent at home will be a night wasted, lol. What a shame about work and needing to earn, eh? :p
