2012_01280019.JPG most people will know the motor but not the body,it's a morris minor gown van, used for posh dresses and came panelled but i put the windows in,had to slide my kids in above the cab feet first. first van i took abroad,to the exotic isle of wight, travelled all over in the middle of winter had a great time, van was a pig to drive and cost £40

Mmm - lovely straight sides: The self builders dream :)

There used to be loads of gown vans running about in the 70's but they don't seem to make them anymore , a mate of mine drove a Ford A Series gown van delivering round the south coast back in '79 .

i used to know a man who made his living converting gown vans to carravanettes

the inside was panelled in 3mm birch ply and mahogany strip, smelt exactly like an old piano, rolled like a boat and if you let the clutch out too sharp the axle would turn in the 'u'bolts ,tried allsorts couldn't fix it, but had a lot if fun out of it. my next camper was a princess ambulance, straight 6 ,10 to the gallon.
