what happens if my mot runs out while im traveling around Europe do i have to come back to the uk?
or should i just some one back home to declare sorn and stay abroard how dose it work out for others here?

I would think you'd have to come back to mot it , i have a mate in Germany who has to bring his Land Rover back every year for mot . Or you could book an mot at a garage near the ferry port when you're heading home and go straight from the boat to the test centre :drive:
 
Any van / car must be legal in the country of registration when in another country inc. EU country. If you are going away MOT van early so that you are legal. If you are going for more than 12 months I do not know the answer.

If you take a UK vehicle out of the country for more than 12 months you need to declare it as exported and it then needs to be registered in another country. Therefor you need to return get the MOT and leave again to stay legal. Without a current MOT your insurance will probably be invalid as well.

If you have a vehicle in some countries over 182 days you must register it there to remain legal. This is impossible if it is a UK habitation door model.
