hi there. i have a good ol 1991 b544 fiat 2.5 td.
when on hook - up, it used to light up the control panel, showing the charge rate.
alas no more. no lights or charge dial activity but the charger does work.
last night i read about the multi block and gave it a try. worth a try but no change. i have received the workshop manual from hymer but havent had time to go through it yet.
any ideas anyone ?

Hi there geoff, If you have a look behind the panel it might be a wire off at the back, thats why its still charging it might be the wire supplying the rocker switch probably, I'll do you a swap, an electrician for a welder, need me exhaust welding back on before Mot next month,;);)

.
change the bulb :p

regards:rolleyes:

kidstedayeh...:p

Its not a bulb its a lamp, You plant bulbs and pretty flowers grow up, Anyway its not a lamp problem as the charge dial is not working either.
I dont know these old folks think they know it all these days.;);)

But at least you tried. I dont know old folks today!!!!:p

Hello brother i have a 92 544,cant help you im afraid though just fitted a reversing camera which is great when your kitchen is in the rear!!
On refitting sink the old tap push fit was leaking, ended up having to buy a new one,at a place conveneantly local to me,lucky really as we are going away with the van for a week tommorow.
I find that as a novice with electrics i have started learning a fair bit recently and went to the local library to pick up some books on electrics, which should keep me studying in the evenings next week. Why is it that things are not easily accesable,my fridge switch does not light or work on 12 volt, and during dismantling of the kitchen i must have vacumed up acout 15 dead flys inside the plastic cover that fits over the switches and terminals. But there is no power at the main fuse panel anyhow.good luck with your efforts

mine came back to life after pulling out block 3 from electroblock and reinserted it no idea why it worked but the back light was always on even all the switches were not functioning (the control panel of your did not light up) may be it is not the same fault , however, we both had the fault after a few days of hooking up, wondering if that causes the fault to develope. i do find a wiring map of the panel from all the papers i inherited from previous owners in german if you need a copy send me pm, by the way i also drove the van first, before i did all that whether it resets the circult i don't know sorry cant' help

The problem of wiring

Hi All,
Let's go back to basics. The greatest weekness in any electrical circuit is always the connectors, heat and age. Thus in our older vans where all three conditions exist we get troubles. The reason why I suggested pulling the multi-pin plug out and then replaceing is because it was quite likely that the plug had over time built up a tarnish which eventualy caused the contact to fail. The heat generated by the charger, whilst on hookup, which in Hymers is inside the electrobloc does not help and that may contribute to the multi-pin plug failing.
Now to Flashingblades' problem. It may well be that the lamp/bulb has failed and requires re-placement. Also that the multi-pin plug that fits onto the panel is suffering from the same problem ie age and tarnishing.
The moral of this tale is to try everything in a logical and ordered way, and to use a multi-meter at every stage to establish whether a voltage is present where you expect it to be.

it stops me getting bored !

hi all. thanks for any tips. TIPS i said aj. i'm ok with electrics, just wanted any inside knowledge before i looked at it. my biggest problem is not having much spare time. i'm going to tackle it this weekend.
hey there big B, sure we can arrange to weld up any bits you want, even if it's one evening. busy next weekend but anytime after that.
if i have any success, i will report back for other sufferers.
cheers...geoff
