My stealth campervan build

I bought this old Sprinter last year to ferry my motorbikes around but recently decided to make a basic campervan out of it.

It was white and covered in rusty scabs with loads of panel damage on the nearside but runs like a swiss watch with 205,000 miles on the clock so i decided to make it look a bit better.

I treated the scabby bits and hand painted it with a small roller and a paint brush using 'Rustoleum' paint.

I then ordered some bonded side windows in 'privacy tint' and proceeded to cut out the relevant panels and fit the windows myself (with assistance from a mate). I also fitted a roof vent for ventilation purposes.

(i've just bought the spares or repair caravan as a doner for cushions etc)

Next i started extending the panelling and also insulating the existing plywood lined areas by pulling it away and stuffing the voids with loft insulation. Once i've installed the 12v wiring for lights etc i'll be glueing carpet i've purloined onto the walls and ceiling.

As i still intend to carry my bike/bikes in secrecy i won't be doing a full conversion but wanted to make it cosy for the occasional overnight stay with some basic facilities available at the front end of the load area. I will probably make do with a hob/grill for cooking and brews. Bowl or sink for washing/up and a 12v coolbox for the beers /food. My 12v avtex TV and a way of powering my laptop will be installed all based around my 12v leisure batteries and my soon to be fitted 80w solar panel.

And here's a pic of my lovely wife Margaret who died 3 months ago today after a 2 year battle with bowel cancer and our dog Bailey resting on a trek up Catbells a couple of years ago
