my kingdom for a hose

Hi, all

On our way up to Scotland last week, we found a leaky rad hose. We got sent to the local fiat dealer (clarke in Broxburn.), we had to wait 4 days for the hose to come from Italy.

According to what we heard on radio 4, more and more motor manufacturer are running with less and less spares.

Ours is 2004 2,8dtl.

What a load of pollox from the Dealer: Any half-decent local spares factor would have had that off the shelf.
It's just because the Dealer is bound by the terms of their franchise to Fiats to only use spares from Fiat - B*****ds, I hope their next one is a hedgehog
I hope that it didn't ruin whatever you had planned

Euro car parts are a national company and can get most spares quickly. Their prices are not bad either.

Just a tip. If your water temperature sender fails, it is a Fiat only part. You have to go direct to a dealer, pay over £30 first and wait for it to arrive. There are 2 senders close together on my Ducato. Euro car parts had one (the wrong one) for less than £7.

It certainly is rip-off Britain.:mad::mad:

I worked in the Transit Factory at Southampton for thirty years on Production Control, we used to keep 6 weeks supply of parts to build Transits,then along came the accountants who thought it would be a great idea to hold just one days production parts to save money, so we reverted to what was optimistically called parts just in time which meant parts coming daily,this of course did not work and came to be known as parts just too late as we built vans with all sorts of parts missing which had to be fitted off line later at more cost, progress I don't think so.

Instead of using fiat dealers maybe you could try using a Peugeot or Citroen dealer instead. They are all built in the same factory, and use the same engines, just with a different badge on the front.

I have a citroen berlingo car which is the same as a peugeot partner and one part I wanted would have taken a week to come from a my local citroen dealer but my local peugeot dealer got it on next day delivery for me. All I had to do was tell him my chassis number and he was happy to order it for me. He said they also regularly order parts for citroen and fiat vans as well.

Hi All,
