I had a carry rack manufactured to take the quad bike.
Took the rig on the chunnel and motored down through France . Headed for eastern Spain.
Spent a couple of months around Alicante then down to Cabo de Gata.
This was a 6 month trip over the winter of 2010 - 2011.

Sold the Damon and quad in 2013.

got caught in a really wicked storm up in the Grande Massive

IMGP0401.jpg

Ended up cutting off the awning and carrying on to Spain without one.

The awning was not rolled out, the gales unravelled it and it acted like a parachute, quite exciting being in it at the time.

The narrow winding mountain roads were a bit of a thrill too, quite challenging keeping the bus under control during a massive storm.
No places to stop and shelter or to pull off the road.

I got to my friends farm in Aveyron just in time for the awning to start unravelling fully and totally out of control.

If this had come adrift while I was on the mountain roads, the story would have been different.

All part of life's rich tapestry

The two pictures are a year or so apart.

First destroyed awning was in France, was replaced under the insurance.
Second picture is the brand new replacement being destroyed by the heavy overnight rain.
It was an A&E awning, standard issue of a lot of RVs.

Sold it without an awning, the buyer never asked or even noticed that there was not an awning fitted.
