Motorhomes and cats

Hi folks,
I was wondering if any of you nice people travel with a cat or cats and how they like it and if you have any thoughts and or advice to offer.
We recently obtained a Norwegian Forest Cat kitten, a jet black male cat who is presently 4 months old. This breed are the largest of the domestic cats and the males reach about 8-10 kilos. We will be bringing him with us on our wild camping travels ( though not abroad ) and we would be interested to hear from anyone else who does this. He happily walks with us in a harness.
Incidentally, his name is Samson, and this is where I took my site name from, as we had just bought him when I joined the site.

A DOG HAS A MASTER BUT A CAT HAS STAFF.

Hi Samson,

I know a couple from Middlesbro` who take 2 cats with them. They stay on sites though.

Last year they spent money on their van instead of getting a new one. They had white leather upholstery fitted. Methinks that was a very bad move.:D

Hi Samson there was a post from someone on here but cant remember whom, who did wilding with the cat or cats,i remember 1 picture looked like a lovely big cuddly bundle of fluff if i remember rightly,it was big and i believe it ate one of maingates dogs, could be wrong though. She used to walk the cat on a lead, probably to protect dogs from it!:D

Yes, our kitchen chairs are full of claw holes. Wrecked within a few weeks.

That made me laugh!

Hey coolie,

You will be suffering more than flashbacks when I see you in June.

I have put your photo up next to the dogs beds. They now think you are a breed of Rabbit, and you know what they do to Rabbits.:p:p:p

Re. Motorhoming Cat

Hi,
We have a moggy and take her everywhere with us. We wildcamp and also take her with us on our annual holidays. So far we have only holiday'd in the UK but we intend getting her a passport and going abroad next year. (I think you need to do this at least 6 months beforehand)
We have a litter tray in the shower room and we plug the drain with bluetac so it doesn't get bunged up with any stray wood based litter.
Because she was second hand (Cats Protection) we were not able to train her early on like you, but, she has got used to travelling in her cat basket and is let out once we are parked up. We do only use the cab doors to enter and exit and she never attempts to get out there. Our van is parked up in the garden and she often comes in and out at her own free will via the main door so she is obviously not traumatised.
She is very good on a lead and when we are somewhere quiet, we take her out. We were once on a site in Wales and this couple had several cats and a cat flap in the van door. The cats never strayed more than a few feet from the van and were happy to go in and out so I'm sure your kitty would get used to it very quickly. Good luck and it's nice to hear someone else who is passionate about their p.. - cat!
