Hi just need some input into this van we’re thinking about going to view I know it’s a swift but I would like to know basically what to lookout for apart from the obvious, the layout seems to be what we’re looking for so all advice welcome. These are a couple of photos of it 81CEA74B-5005-467A-A750-6DCA9BEDD367.jpg

It looks really tidy Jeannette. Damp can be an issue, but that's the case in other makes too. Just go in with eyes wide open. Don't forget to open top lockers and look for any signs of discoloration on the roof. It does look well cared for though.

It looks well nice and a great layout. Yes, check for damp and if possible take someone experienced with you to give it a test drive and a poke underneath. Ask a million questions, keep heart and head in balance and just get a feel for the seller, do they come across as genuine?

Good luck hun.

looks really nice jeanette...love the layout....good luck......keep us posted on the outcome...

Looks great Jeanette. It's like my layout but that's a better kitchen than mine. Have you got a damp meter?... couldn't hurt to give it the once over, along with all the other checks. Good luck!

We have a damp meter which we are taking and we have viewed a van there before (it’s a garage) and a member on here said they knew of the garage and it has a good reputation, and I’m taking the main driver (ahem)! We have been to see a van today and as soon as I walked into the van I just gave Malcolm the ‘look”that said no!! haha it does look well cared for,is there anything else that anyone can tell me about this make? Hopefully it’ll be a good outcome this time! As I’ve said all info is welcome.

Be careful as most dealers here will not take them as trade ins because of poor build and damp issues.
If its very cheep and dry then ok ,good luck.

Good Luck Jeanette ..I really hope it is what you are looking for.:drive:
I like the lay out a lot and that always worked well for us out of the million trillion vans I'v had :D

I'm sure you will know as soon as you walk in if its damp, my bones usually feel the damp before my nose can smell it.

I'm keeping everything crossed for you

Thanks Jac that’s the same with me and the same as the one we went to see yesterday I could feel it even though he said it had been fixed, but they also still had all their stuff in to me if you’re going to sell you empty it and clean it out,he was still hoovering when we got there, any luck for you finding the one! Are you selling your wobble box? We don’t know what to do with ours yet!

Yes the caravan is going Jeanette ...Im not a natural tugger :)
We will miss the comforts it gives ..but then again we miss the simplicity of van life.

Im with you on the emptying cleaning side of things if your selling your van ...clean it, declutter it.

Keep us posted on the outcome of the van your viewing :)

Will definitely let you know what happens either way as you say I will miss the comfort but miss the simplicity of a van,and Malcolm loves going to Scotland well we both do I have always loved going there,I can’t understand people who say they are going to sell then leave all their belongings in even the food!! What van do you fancy Jacany photos?

]have a good stomp on the floor check for sqeaks and. Spongy floor, check the fridge and heating ,check the windows for cracks check operation of all opening windows and sky light's , check the electric control panel and its functions . in the cab check electric windows and mirror check all dash panel and warning light's, check brakes and clutch, check for exhaust smoke ,ask for service history ,Dose it come with any warranty or bought as seen, keep a contingency fund in your pocket as you will probably need to have some repairs .

Is there anybody here who has bought more than one Swift?

Hope you get lucky... But heed the advice.
Better safe than soaked.

I'll have you know we've never been wet in ours even though i'm pretty sure we have had a leak. All we ever noticed was a discolouration on the roof. TBH i'd struggle to find a replacement, given the build quality of some newer vans. :D The one Jeanette's looking at is a couple of years newer than ours, so before they started having serious build problems.

It has all service history and it comes with warranty molly2 we’re thinking this one can’t be any worse than the ones we’ve already seen, the one we saw at Preston wasn’t just damp it was soaking wet! So thanks for all that because I sometimes think you forget to look for the little things but little things grow into big things!

Hopefully the van has been outside in all weathers for a fair while,
and taken out on rain days this will help show up damp issues. If kept
under cover for a lengthy period any any damp may well have dried
out enough as to not give meaningful readings on the damp meter.
The shower/whb area is worth giving extra special attention to for internal
leakage signs. A cracked shower tray in any van can be disastrous.
