There has been quite a few posts on Facebook recently about motorhome thefts from driveways, so beware do not give them the opportunity to steal your prized possession.

Hi, at the moment our motorhome is on the drive with car parked close in front of it, motorhome is alaramed and disklok fitted, also rigged up to alam in house, as always steel gates are shut and locked. unfortunately if they want it they'll take it no matter what.

Some guy called at my home 2 days ago and asked if my van was for sale, NO i said, and he went away , I have heard that this is a dodgy practice and am extra vigilant right now.:danger::danger::eek:

The way I see it, is that the police consider this a minor crime.
So They'll need to make some concessions, when dealing with injuries suffered by the criminals who CHOSE to try to take a self made conversion that is still ongoing away from me!

Mine is protected in several different ways, that I'm not going into on an open forum, but when someone decides to break the law for they're own gain, then as far as I'm concerned, all injuries they suffer are self inflicted!

I regularly get notes left on my m/h asking if I want to sell it. Is that dodgy too and if so why? Genuinely curious as to whether this is risky or not.

I don't know really but anyone taking an interest in the van rings alarm bells I guess .

I've had this happen on several occasions, over the years. It's disconcerting, to say the least, especially when the people asking, are often of the travelling type.

That happened to us. Then the van was stolen. But there was quite a long time between the query and the theft - pretty well a couple of months. Why on earth would you knocik on somebody's door to ask if their motorhome was for sale? Definite dodgy practice.

I get the facebook notifications and think they should be repeated here - there seem to be thefts every week and they're only ones making it onto the facebook I get notifications about. It's truly shocking how many thefts there are.

My van was a Fiat Ducatto. No sound through night - just outside bdroom window - and I wondered if maybe it was pushed down the road a bit then winched onto a recovery truck.

How once upon a time it worked here Trev ....I am member of a fb group crimes in Dewsbury ...same names keep cropping up , 3 nonces caught in 24 hours one very close to a member here .however I don't get it ...In our day thieves code of conduct you don't shite on your own doorstep, and a little trip to the local golf course taught swiftly miscreants errors of their ways.

People tolerate this shite ...moan but do feck all about it, plod are non existent getting a crime number seems an effort.....I genuinely feel we will see an uprising It all stacks why I want my daughter raised on a small Scottish Island ..let em get on with it

I had this a few years ago first he came when the van was parked at the mother in laws then when we moved it down to our house he turned up again and offered almost as much as we paid, knowing the MOT was due in a month or so and it needed some work doing we let it go and have never had any problems relating to that van. I told us he bought older vans and did them up.

We have had it over here in some of the car parks near the fishing beaches I go to so my friend put a cut out switch in for me now the only way you can start my van is if you can find where he put the switch total cost 20 euros now no worry's when i leave the van to go of fishing
