There are about 3500 CLs and CSs that all have dump facilities and drinking water taps. It is worth a phone call to one near where you are to ask if you could pay a fee just to dump/replenish. I know some CLs now are fitting Motorhome dump points for RV type disposal.

They are limited to 5 van staying on them overnight but there is no such restriction to vans calling in and leaving.

A night in a CL is not a high price to pay. Personally I don't use club or commercial site but stick to the CL network from both the big clubs.

Disposing of a cassette of toilet waste that has not been treated with non green additives is no different to using a loo normally. I have often used a public toilet but I use a SOG with no chemicals added. I carry a bottle of water to rinse and paper to mop up any drips. I also use an air freshener afterwards to leave the cubicle smelling nice for the next user. That is something other (normal) users don't do. I try to be at the loo early or late to avoid clashing with normal users.

We do need more disposal facilities and taps. I would pay to use such a facility if it was available.

Do any wildcampers do this already?

A post of places that will accomodate this facility would be usefull for other wilders.

Aldi do a fantastic recyclable bag for shopping that will take a cassette without too much trouble.

I've been known to go into a Tesco before now to use the facilities!!

Did buy a paper so don't feel too bad about it.

hi, i hope you didnt fill the cassette up with drinking water to take out. you know kill two birds with one stone ha ha.

If everyone in life were as considerate (I try to be) .The world would be a better place.
Yes I do mean it!!!
On a practical note,I bag up any paper waste and use washing machine liquid when I think I will have to dump the cassette in a normal toilet.

the secret is a good filter .then you can be self sufficengt. dont dump any grey or black just recycle it.
i,m told the safari filter in mine allows you to drink your own water. i decided not to try it. the water that leaves a sewage works is also suposed to be ok for drinking .but never drank that either.
pete i guess you never thought about the drinking water. you will in future. you will laugh ever time you empty that cassette now. just thinking about this thread. i,m not taking the piss honest. ha ha .cheers alan.

service stations

someone told me recently that if you are a member of the Camping and Caravanning Club you can use their sites 'service' facilities whether you are staying on the site or just passing through - but I haven't checked this with the club yet.
I think that there ought to be service points at all the major service stations where motorhomes can empty toilet cassettes etc - I remember being on a tour coach in France and there was such a facility at a motorway service station over there.

Camping and Caravanning club do offer "Motorhome Service Points" at some of their sites, you don't need to be a member. We paid 6.60 to shower, dispose of waste and fill up with water, there were also the option to handwash clothes in the laundry room included in that price. If your lucky you may be able to fill up with water for free if that is all you need to do, the manager seemed to imply this to us at least but seeing as I was in desperate need of a shower at this point we paid the money for all facilities
