Motorhome Rental

I recently purchased an accessory for my Motorhome, and when it arrived, a flyer was placed inside the packaging, it read:
Quote:

We know what a big investment you've made to own your Motorhome.

Why not let it work for you?
We've got customers all over the country eager to hire your Motorhome. We do all the hard work-we'll find the customer, arrange the insurance and sort out all the travel details.

All we ask is that the motorhome is in good condition for the dates arranged and we will send you a cheque for the agreed sum*

*subject to terms and conditions.

These people don't want much do they. Just Tax and insure, service and clean, worry if your going to get it back without any damage etc, and we'll do the rest???
I would'nt do this, but would love to know what others think about the subject.
A way of making some extra dosh in these uncertain times, yes, but rent out your baby? Not for me.

Happy Camping (in your own motorhome):)

not for me

no way
i would rather be skint than risk my babybeing wrote off or worse not coming back.
No even if we arn't going anywhere i like to see her sat there ready to go when ever we want to go.
We let friends borrow our last motorhome and yes these people were very resposible and very very good friends but needless to say she didnt come back in the same condition.so no never again and thats with people we know let alone stangers.

No way no way no way, I would never hire my M/H out, not even to close friends or family. I even make people take off there shoes at the door before they come in, maybe a little OTT but what the hell, on the other hand if it was a business venture and there was a good profit, I would consider buying a M/H for hire purpose only.

My first motorhome in 2004 which was a ci was brought for renting out
and did it for 3 years, and believe me it was harder to do than you
would think  It helped to pay towards the van but no where near
annough if some one is thinking of doing it you have to treat the van
as a tool because the when you see a client drive down the road you
think OMG and for the whole hire period you just worry to death.

Never, ever hire out your van to someone you don't know (and even then).
Here on the continent East European gangs hire a motorhome will false ID and are gone with the wind  Daelers are very reluctant these days to hire out. H**z did report that 10% of their cars simply disapear (but they are heavily insured and don't bother about it )

hiring

I would never hire or loan mine out. Can you imaging the time it would be off road if they damaged any of the exterior panels or roof? If you let it out spring bank and anything happened, you might not get it back on the road until after the summer. No thanks.

Incidently a local garage has bought two new CIs and are promoting them everywhere even in Practical Motorhome. I haven't seen them move off the forecourt yet in 3-4 months.

Just checked there website. 2008 prices held for 2009 and already discounting prices. Doesn't look good to me.

Some good thoughts on the subject, thanks. I would'nt let the Queen and her family use mine.
(It might come back full of Corgi hairs).;)

Happy Camping:)

A friend of mine had a horrific experience hiring their camper van out a couple of years ago.It came back stinking of stale cigarettes with burns in the carpet, cloth seat covers ripped, side chipped and a huge scrape down one side. Has deeply regretted it ever since.Wouldnt let anyone near my Daisy for love nor money!(though I do let my boyfriend drive her!!and i don't get people to take their shoes off either!!lol)

Did anyone hire a van before they brought one to see if they would like it:confused:
I had always fancied the idea of free roaming but we did hire first and amongst other places we went to york show more and more advice which I'm sure that is what we all did more and more advice I mean:D
