Motorhome prices in Europe

I just wondered has any of you compared prices for new and used motorhomes?
Where are the best bargains to be found?

Kris

me personaly ,a good used mabey a couple of years old is better value than a new one. i know they dont depreciate as fast as cars but you will be able to get a better spec on second hand than new for less than one of the same model brand new plus any teething probs will hopefully have been sorted .

Hi Nolly

Thanks for the link. I had a quick look and the prices are much cheaper than France. I am happy with my 1993 Motorhome but I might feel tempted to change!
Did you have much trouble registering in France? In which department do you live?

Kris

living in france and having explored the market in recent months , speaking of used motorhome only , I can confirm that france is expensive [ and friends in spain tell me that prices have been high there as well ]

best places in the eurozone for the moment are germany and belgium

but if you want a used LHD motorhome the best place currently seems to be ....the uk , the vast majority of people look to want RHD and 6 months ago I was offered about 20% cheaper on the equivalent price by more than one dealer ; I have a couple of friends who live in spain who have been to the uk to buy LHD in the uk in the last 6 months ; there seem to be a disproportionate number of LHD in the private ad's , presumably because dealers don't want to give sensible prices on them

of course the £/€ rate will keep moving and you have to factor that in

Hi Kris.
We live in Burgundy, department 71 (Saone & Loire), close to the Jura which is great for motorhoming.:)
We had no problems registering in France, found it really straight forward. One piece of paper which is really important is the Certificat de Conformite, without that you will have problems. A very helpful link for info on registering a vehicle in France, you may already know it, is AngloINFO France. Everything for expats living in or moving to France
Ours passed it's first Controle Technique last week so we can forget about that for another 2 years, a further plus for living in France.:)
Regards Nolly.
