Motorhome Paarking Trial

There was a free carpark around there, don't if this is it ,where you could overnight for ferry.

We (SWMBO and I) know this place well having stopped overnight whilst waiting for and returning on the ferry a couple of times. The last occasion being just this May. We have also stayed there a couple of times when just drifting around Pembs.
Having said that we are confused by the nation.cymru article. The photo they show is the car park which fronts the main road and has, I guess, about 30 or 40 places. It's also the car park that is identified when looking on Google earth. This is not the area used by motorhomers.

Behind that car park and the petrol station is a very large and roughly surfaced area with no marked parking bays which is used by local dog walkers etc and also motorhomers and truckers. There are also a couple of vehicles and caravans, not occupied, which look as if they have been there quite a while. If you look on Google Earth you will see what I mean. Actually the area is exactly the one described on searchforsites.

When we arrived back on the late ferry last May about 7 Mohos and 4 or 5 truckers headed straight there and settled down for the night. The trick, BTW, is to park as far away from any trucks running their refrigeration as possible! Despite that, it's mostly a quiet and safe place with some pleasant walks.

So, if this is the area where Pembs Council intend to start charging motorhomes we don't see how they will implement and enforce it. For example, installing height barriers will just banish the truckers - there is nowhere else for them. Bear in mind that Stena spend a lot of money in Fishguard/Goodwick on employment and local sports sponsorship and have recently announced major investment in the RoRo docks.
Motorhomers can also spend at the chippy, petrol station (which has LPG!) and two supermarkets

I could go on but I think you get my drift. Yet another case of biting the hand that feeds it?
