I am planning to fit high rear supplementary lighting on my 3m high motorhome.
After a trip to Spain with my brother following in his motorhome, he commented on the fact that at night if there were a vehicle between him and us, he sometimes could not see my rear lights.
Bearing this in mind, I think I could possibly avert an incident behind me if vehicles further back could see me braking and/or indicating by fitting extra tail, brake and indicator lights set up high.
I have already sourced a pair of round LED lights and will be fitting them as soon as the weather gives me a break.
I have read up on the legislation regarding rear lighting and see no reason why I cannot do this, has anybody done this before?
The lights I will be fitting are these:
12V/24V 140mm ROUND LED SLIM SLIMLINE COMBINATION HAMBURGER REAR TAIL LIGHT LAMP | eBay
They are relatively flat, require only three drilled holes per unit and look neat. I have tested them with a 12v supply and they are very bright. :)

high brake lights

Lights ... will they become mot failers if 1 bulb is out?
They look easy to fit.

I have just replaced the fitted high level brake light on my van, when I took it for the mot in october with the old light still on,a couple of bulbs were out(out of a total of 7) but it still passed with an advisory.

Yes, have fitted high level repeater lights on mine, and on previous vehicles. A few coaches/ buses, and most London Transport buses have them. Provided you don't have a fog light up there, I can't see any regulation you'll fall fail of.

Our Mercedes is under 3M but still has high level lights front and back as standard, plus auxiliary side marker amber lights.

I would use standard trailer lamps and fit led bulbs, thats what i did because its cheaper and easy to change a led bulb than a whole unit.
Modern cars have full led unit but cost a arm and leg,i just changed bulbs to led as my tail lift door went through bulbs with the constant slamming shut, two years now ebay china leds still going strong.
1156 are large single point 1157 are two contact stop and tail ba9s are the small bulb fitment used in front side lights, hope this helps.

Another advantage of additional lights is you can put of fitting bulbs if one goes, ;)
I hate faffing about fitting bulbs, especially when it's dark, cold and wet.
In the old days, you only knew a bulb was gone when you checked. Now you get a warning message/light.

Fortunately where I park at home, I can check all lights in reflections, it's a habit. Out and about I still do a walk round check, not sure why though, having a warning light. Still, nothing like checking stuff yourself.
I change bulbs myself too, :p even if it took me an hour once, lol. Turned out the new bulb was faulty. :)

Correct David, my Fiat Stilo front nearside dipped light has blown, I need to remove the car battery to change the lamp. :(
