MOT Grrrrr

We only have 2 in our area that are able to cope with the length of our MH! And I will not be going back to one of them since the fiasco we had last year! Guy informed me the vehicle had failed on O/S main beam, dip and sidelight failure which I thought very odd since I had checked everything the day prior to the test... I checked whilst he was filling out the form and noticed the multi plug had become detached from the rear of the bulb holder and pointed this out to him... He refused to allow me to re-connect it and supply a test cert unless I paid for another test which would cost another £22 on top of the original £44! I accepted the failure and went to the other place on principle! The second place (which also charged £44) passed the MH even though one of the headlights was pointing out of alignment (slightly low and the adjusting screws were rusted/siezed)! Guess who'll be having my £44 this next year?!

Correct me if I am wrong. I was under the impression that MOT charges were the same across the board throughout England. I paid £38, Feb: '06, failed, as I had right hand drive main beams. My local garage stuck some black tape on the lens and took it back to the MOT and it passed. Did not charge me a cent as I had it back within 7 days.

MOT Charges

Virg, Cannot argue with that, your charges are in black and white. Due an MOT on 28 Feb: '07. Looks like I gotta pay £50.35. Will come back to you when I find out how much I gotta pay, when I pop in, in the next couple of days at my local garage.
Had to trample over quite a few bodies to get to my PC. Crashed out in the MH last night, house is full of snoring grand kids.

Wish everyone was sleeping in our place! I awoke to find all three kids creeping up the stairs at 04:45am with eyes wide open, when they saw me peeping at them there were excited exclaimations of "He's been he's been!" so we got up then! Early to bed tonight I recks!

motorhomes come under class 4 at 50.35 which is what i just payed at freeways as far as re tests this seems to vary through out some re charge some dont prices on goverment mot web site if u are right file a complaint against garage i did once and actually one got retest for nothing hard work

Just paid 40 euros for our biannual french MOT -its not just the wine that cheaper!! (Also no road tax disk fo our Frnch registered MH and diesel at 70p / litre. C'est la vie! Happy new year to all.

70 cents a litre

Hi, sorry Ian, don,t know if you are in the same france as me, but MOT,s are 65 euros for diesel, and diesel is 1.01 euros per litre, not been .70 for 4 years, Of course you maybe in that different france.

Garages do not pay the minstry the same price as they charge customers thats why some places charge more than others, havnt taken mine yet but last year I paid 25.00 for the starcraft at one place and 30 for the big van at a differnt place, and be4 any1 asks I use differnt garages because the vans are different sizes

Terry please read what I wrote -look for the p after 70 -1 euro is about 67p.

In the part of Tarn departement 81 we are we just paid €40 (£28) in November (€35 for a car) In a nearby town the going rate is about €10 more. The price as I understand is not regulated by the government (unlike many things) so it can pay to shop arround.
