Hi

I have an Iveco 6.5t HGV on the log book.

The conversion is not quite finished "internal cosmetics" so not changed type at the DVLA either Campervan (which no chnace of getting yet as no awning) so may be van with Windows when we do apply.

Anyone know the MOT Class, if should be tested as taking onto account the log book although not wure the log book has relevance (V5 is HGV Van)

No chassis amendments or anything else other than interior and solar panels, the morning stuff.

Also any one know of any MOT centres that will test it ?

Thanks having trouble to find a test centre but might because I'm focused on the weight not the class.

As you are in Great Britain, as opposed to Northern Ireland, then the MOT class it is tested to is dictated by the APPEARANCE of the vehicle and the classification on the V5C logbook is not taken into account or even looked up (I checked on this point a few years when I needed to get my 4.6t van MOTed before it was reclassified and the Tester told me they specifically will not look at the V5C).

If it has the hallmarks of a Motor Caravan internally - Bed, Table, Cooker, etc, - then it should get tested as a Motor Caravan which is a Class 4, same as a private car.
I take my vans to a Commercial garage which has an inspection pit (so no weight issues for lifts or height problems if put on a lift - the other limitation for some test stations along with weight).
You could investigate Council Test Centres? They test their own vehicles and are also open to the public.

4 ton lift just lifted mine so ask if they have pit . Good luck

My van is 5 ton and 9 meters long I always MOT at local council yard they have large ramps for bin lorries coaches and the like and it’s always a fair mot as they dont do repairs if van fails.

'Tested as presented '

Looks like a camper
Smells like a camper
Sounds like a camper ....

= it's a camper and thus mot tested as such

Class 4

Regardless of logbook etc etc

Not even been back to the website... Sadly it's typical and happens too frequently.
