Greetings.
I ordered a new car from the internet from a firm called, Buy a car. Ltd.
The savings were good over six grand. After ordering it I checked out the firms feedback on a forum.
Oh dear, three out of five were unhappy, including on guy who is still waiting,2 years on for his car.
So I wrote a letter of cancellation, and registered it, as they wanted all monies up front.
They rang me and asked me to try another web site which shows a more balanced view.
And he would have to charge me a handleing fee anyway, WRONG.
This I did only to find over 16% were unhappy.
So i said i still wanted to cancel under the 2000 distant trading regulations. T
Apparently i can cancel even if i'm not happy after receiving the car, even seven days later.
Nearly two months have elapsed and no return of said five hundred deposit.
So i rang the C.A.B. and put them in the picture.
They advised me to write a registered letter to them pointing out their mistakes.
And also that even it I paid by debit card, (which i had). Or i can claim it back with a system called Charge back. (New to me).
So I rang HSBC. On their out of hours line, and they could'nt have been more helpful.
Imediate transfer of the monies back to my account, while they look into it.
Will contact me in a few days for more details then.
What a nice man.
The C.A.B. where just as helpful, and gave me a reference number, as they have informed the Trading standards who may want to take it further.
As they should have returned it within 30 days by law.
There are other firms that also give 16% discounts off this particular model. And you pay in full when you take delivery of said vehicle.
As to my trade in car which they were giving me a grand over the best price.
I went again on the net and sold it to, We buy any car. com.
Had a good deal but be warned the slightest scratch anywhere, and its deducted.
I was offered 12,175, trade in. But he found a few marks and slight dents, that I had not seen, and I got 11,500.
Which was exacly what the garage offered me.
Went to the auction and got a nice 18 month old 3008 Pegueot crossover,
Which fits the bill a lot cheaper.
So we live and learn, more to spend wild camping.
