Tomorrow evening I am booked on the Rotterdam to Hull ferry, and it will be the first time back in Britain since March 2010.

I am looking forward to seeing my parents, looking forward to proper sausage bacon etc and not paying through the nose for a little bisto ...albeit a wizard now with a stock cube onion and a bit of cornflour.

It is howling a real gale here, and when the met forecast the North sea as rough as a rule the swell is not for the feint hearted.

Dog is jabbed up, so all set;

I am looking forward to visiting England, I still love it even if the lunatics from the asylum seem to be running the gaff....equally the continent has given a lot of fond memories.

I know one thing having spent many an hour fishing Spurn Point ..there will be a tear when I see it .......wilding there is hit and miss in my opinion.

Back to the Uk no work nature of the business, Life seems always a challenge, but hopefully I can get to a meet.

Hi Channa

Welcome back--that is when you get back. I would not want to be on the ferry at the moment:boat:. I hope you have enjoyed yourself working over there.
Bye for now Freddie:):)

Originally I should have been on a boat now from Zeeebrugge .....so glad I am not.

Hopefully by tomorrow night things have calmed down ...at the moment in Holland it is vicious deffo glad I am not at sea.

That said checked the Met office marine forecast and it doesnt look good for tomorrow even ...never moan about Calais dover again lol

Hi again Channa

Batten down the hatches and wear a sick bag over your head!!:goodluck:.
I remember being on the Plymouth-Santander ferry in 1987 (I think) should have been 23 hours I was on the bloody thing for 54 hours in a force 11 gale--we never got to Santander we got near but turned back and went to bordeaux!! which caused lots of problems because we did not have a 'Carnet' for France:mad:. But I am glad to say I was not sick although a lot of the crew where:lol-053:.
Anyway keep safe and I hope you blog some of stories when you get back
Bye for now
Freddie:D

Welcome back (if you do get back)

I bet you find it expensive here. We were only away five months this year and noticed a big difference. I wish I hadnt come back to be honest. How long you stopping?

Ginger biscuits are good for sea sickness, don't know if they are good for dogs though.

My 1st ferry trip was when britain just got into Indian food, I had a curry as soon as we boarded, threw it all up got laughed at by school kids.
Spent the journey curled up like a baby on a seat. Was funny seeing a skid mark right through the middle of my sick when we left. :boat:

At least when the weathers like this you don't have to wait long in the cafe Q.

And, if you need a best man, it will cost you another £150 plus expenses☺☺☺

I'd do it for free just to see both faces when the penny drops!!

Compression fitting olives make great rings as long as your finger is either 10, 15, 22 or 28 mm!! Probably some odd imperial sizes or you could just use rubber "O" rings, probably last just long enough!!

Just noticed this news item. I wonder if it's the ferry that Channa is on? If so, it's not the best welcome back to the UK!

"More than 300 passengers are stranded on the Rotterdam-Hull ferry off the East Yorkshire coast. The Pride of Hull, was unable to dock, after fears that high winds could damage the P&O ship as it entered port."
